  • The Apple TV app has issues

Update: The service has gotten better overall since we got ir over a year ago HOWEVER, what the problem with the Apple TV app? It’s the only app that regularly doesn’t work with the Apple TV remote control. It is so irritating when you suddenly can’t use the app that you pay to have monthly. Previous review:We’ve had TV YouTube since the early days. The app works pretty well these days- all of the problems we’ve had over time have been resolved. My main problem with it now is after upgrading our Apple TV so we steam directly from the app rather than pushing from an IPhone or iPad, is that we can’t skip commercials when we’re playing something on demand. It was never a problem before and at the new subscription rate, it’s really frustrating and making us reconsider subscribing.

Hello, Love using the application on my iPhone. In future releases/upgrades, I would like to be able to listen to the app while using another app (background listening) or minimize the screen and view at the bottom portion of my device. Keep up the good work.
  • A Must Have - Tons of Content!

Youtube TV is easy to use, have all the sports I love and has so much content. In the first 10 mins of having Youtube TV we were able to add 50 movies and tons of shows to our DVR which is unlimited by the way. Cool sports feature if you missed a game, it will play all the top plays for you of the game! Tremendous value. We love it!

    Genuine question.
  • I’m kinda blah about the service

I’m using YouTube TV on an Apple TV. I understand there are probably complications in using these two entities to provide me with entertainment but I seriously expect more. I’ve used other cable access streaming services and have been equally as blah with them as well. Actually though, YouTube is definitely the best, but only barely. I expected more out of a parent such as theirs. But there is one stand out issue. Here is my one, continually frustrating, issue with the app. First, you should know that my audio from the Apple TV is provided through three HomePods. I’m super happy with the performance of this set up, while using every other app on the Apple TV. However, while using YouTube TV, I am continually confronted with mistimed audio, to the point where I’m watching a comedy program but hearing a commercial from a previous break. There are other more long winded complications surrounding the audio cooperation, but that is the most prevalent. I’ve figured out a work around for the issue, but it’s constantly aggravating and thoroughly unnecessary. In my humble opinion. It’s equally possible that the problem lies within the Apple ecosystem. But I’ve got no reason to support the idea. I’m currently looking for another cable access provider to test drive for a week. Hopefully Apple or Google can come up with some fix before I abandon ship.
  • YouTube TV has been charging me for a service I don’t have

I was notified that my membership expired 4/12/20. However they have been billing my credit card ever since. No live help available (understandable, Covid 19) online help it’s nonexistent and horrible.
  • Buggy, Laggy, Non-customizable, Poor customer service

Pros: channel lineup, not cheap but a bit cheaper than competitors Cons: EXTREMELY BUGGY (and bugs only *increased* as time went on, laggy, cant customize anything, contacted customer service once and they were at best dismissive then disconnected the chat (give them points for later adding 10 free days though)
  • Amazing app with mediocre content

I lowered my ranking because YTTV is not supporting Apple IOS now? Too bad we can't get Sundance channel or something interesting. Regular tv and it's reality TV is kind of boring. The app is unbelievably amazing. The design team made "art".... Great UX!
  • Quality Stream, Poor Interface and Canceling Nightmare

The streams are quality, even live. The recordings work well enough. The interface is convoluted and browsing channels or networks is a chore. Doesn’t have any flow when looking for shows or browsing. The main reason I give this 1/5 stars is because of how difficult it is to cancel your subscription. No apps work, they all direct you to go to the website. When I tried, the website kept looping me back to an error screen or trying to go to YouTube’s website. I had to access my initial subscription email to finally view the “membership” tab and see the option to unsubscribe. I also tried accessing the website from my laptop and experienced similar issues. If someone wants to cancel a subscription (that’s advertised as “cancel anytime”), don’t make it so difficult to cancel. I might have renewed my subscription when sports comes back, but I’ll never give youtube money again.
