    The START button does not work. The only thing that does work is a button to search iPhoto, which I do not use. It claims to search many formats and external disks, but there's no way to do that. The company does not include this app on their website. Apple needs to remove it.

    I'd like to give the app ONE STAR because the interface is so awful. But I can't, it did exactly what I needed it to. I had a small image from about 14 years ago for which I needed the larger image it came from, for a book I'm writing. I have the old hard drive but wasn't able to see the image on it. I used this app and it found it tucked away in an old iPhoto library. It scans the target drive for images, hashes the images and then compares them to the query image. Wonderful.

    I duplicated an image file and put them in separate folders on mac. Started Simiar Image Detector, selected on the the copies as the image to search for. Then selected the folder containing the copy. Search came up empty. Passing grade: 60 translates to D- Maximum grade: 100 translates to A Actual grade: 0 translates to F-- (Eff double minus)

    As others have mentioned, the interface is cumberson. My bigest problem is that sometimes it works and other times it simply doesn't. It's been great finding a project file in a pile of 10,000 other files. But today I had a JPG of a image that I knew was in a project subfolder. After 20 minutes I found the file by hand. Then I copied the original image to my desktop (so now I have an exactly duplicate of the original file). I told Similar Image Detected to find that in my project folder and it couldn't find a match. I tried every matching algorhtym, including "Duplicate" and the results were always empty. So while it's great when it works, it's stupendously sad when it doesn't.

    Nowhere near to what the Google image search can do. Fingerprint is only good for duplicates, Histogram is about 10% accurate. I cannot tell you how many pictures I have with green fields, and if I grab a similar picture it comes back with nothing.

    Could not find 2 photos that I put in 2 different folders.

    The interface keeps ripping while I scroll in group view, guess the refresh rate was too low. Though it did find similar photos as expected, but the user experience was terrible.

    I tried to use the tool without reading the instructions. But that didnt work. Its not very self explanatory. After reading the instructions I was able to get it to work. Took about 1 hour to search my drive and found the picture I had been looking for. I had a small rez image and couldnt find the original larger rez myself. So using this tool I was able to find it :-)
