  • Indespensible for converting scanned printed reports into Word docx format

I need to combine hardcopy reports from paper to docx. It takes just a few minutes to read paper statements into a scanner to get a PDF that is converted by the Enlosoft App into a useful Word doc that can be presented to our Administration committee. It is well worth the price for me. My thanks to the developers. This is a followup review after 18 months of use and a version upgrade to 4.0.0. I haven’t had great success with converting handwriting or tried editing within the converter but the docx & xlsx outputs from this converter are all that I need. p.s. at first it seemed unusual to have to drag a file from Finder into the Enlosoft Converter window instead of being able to click on the Converter File tab to drill down to the folder and select the file to be converted but now I wish some other apps allowed drag and drop. This is followup review after 2 years. I recently created a spreadsheet from a pdf containing 2 years of our Church's utility company bills using PDF Converter with OCR. It took longer to scan the bills than to edit the resulting .xlsx file in Apple Numbers. I’ve also used it to scan bank statements over 2 years old for data that “Paperless” could not have retrieved. The lack of editing capabilities in this tool are irrelevant to me. Office tools such as Pages/Word and Excel/Numbers are far more familiar and superior to most multi-too PDF editors.

Ok so unless someone can show me how to make this app work like it use to. This app is now like any other converter and doesn’t let you create the tables and make adjustments before converting. If someone can help make it work like the older version then I’ll change my review. HELP!!!
  • It works well for typed clean text

I can now see why there is such mixed reviews. If you are converting clean text, this program is great! If you are converting handwriting or a poorly scanned PDF, you are going to get more gibberish than actual text. It did exactly what I needed it to do an converted my PDF into a word file and saved me many hours. Thanks!

  • Why This Is Well Worth Paying for What Was Once Free

My Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner used to have a free, bundled program that served my OCR needs for taking unmodifiable pdf law form files and converting them to Word where I then modify them in my law practice. I spent hours recently trying to reinstall scanner drivers and utilities, and then researching the internet to restore this functionality lost along the way probably to OS “upgrades”. The quote below is from the software manufacturer who blames the upgrades but is willing to sell me software for about $119.99 to replace the functionality of what once was bundled/free. I then spent too much time at the Apple Store looking at diametrically opposed reviews of several products before I took somewhat of a gamble on this product. To my relief this new software performed the functionality I need and is more user-friendly than my old free program at 1/6th of the price of the old software’s new “pro” version. "Thank you for contacting ABBYY USA technical support. I apologize for the issues you’re experiencing. Unfortunately, FineReader Sprint is a free bundled version of the software which is only available on the original installation CD that it came on. And FineReader 5.0 Sprint in particular, isn’t supported on El Capitan, so if you located the CD it would not work. If you’d like, you could purchase our standalone software for the Mac, FineReader Pro for Mac."
  • Poor Conversion

I was converting a 15-page PDF document with regularly spaced tables to a DOCX in El Capitan. The results were unusable. One table was completely missing in the converted file. The top edge of larger fonts was missing. Many headings were incorrectly spaced with words divided in the middle.
  • App is inconsistent and support is poor

I manage a lot of data and often need to convert PDFs to Excel. This app sometimes works very well and other times will convert a document poorly. I had one document that had five pages set up identically and the converter converted different pages three different ways. Not sure how that happens. There is a way in the app that you can add or delete lines in a table by right-clicking, but that feature is not working on my computer nor my co-worker’s. I emailed support and it has been slow and unhelpful. I received my first response at 2 am telling me to right-click my mouse despite already stating in my intial inquiry that that was what I was doing and that the function wasn’t working. Got another response, at night again, asking me to record a video of what I am doing. This is unnecessary. There is obviously a glitch somewhere where right-clicking, perhaps with Macs, isn’t working. I’m very happy when this app works, but mostly I’ve been frustrated.
  • Program Me Saved Hours of Work.

I needed a cost effective program to convert a pdf scanned table into an Excel spreadsheet with good OCR performance. This program did an exceptional job taking a poor scan with small text and producing a 98% accurate spreadsheet. Excel spell check finished the job in a few minutes. This program solved my problem without spending $400 for Acrobat.
  • Did EXACTLY what I wanted

Couldnt be easier take a .pdf drop it, and convert it to the format you want .pages or .docx and away you go edit to your hearts desire. I like things that are easy & work like they should. This app gets 2 thumbs up from me (and I dont review many apps)
  • No batch conversion

Do not purchase when you need a program to convert multiple files at once. Even converting a single file is time consuming and not sufficiently automated. Unfortunatelly I can’t return the program, if I could I would do it immediately.
