The app is truly a treasure trove of story! Most new releases are from $5-10, most with decent length. Replayability depends on the book’s author. There are some solid choices though. They should pay authors more!
  • Love it so far, but some suggestions.

This has been great fun over the last week or so. There needs to be a way to filter stories while searching. Some kind of tag system maybe? Sort them by rating? I dunno. Searching is super clunky. A save load system would be a real game changer. Especially on re-reads. It’s incredibly tedious to have to start from the beginning if you want to explore a different dialogue tree in the middle or end of a story. I do feel like the stories are a little over priced.
  • No way to remove the ads

This would be really neat with a better monetization strategy.

This is a good game and I like the stories but there needs to be more diversity you know what I mean I mean that there needs to be different stories also it would be really nice to have more free stories and maybe a option to post your own stories or something like that all in all a great game
  • Love the Stories, the App Needs Work

Love that they’ve made a platform for what was once standalone apps but my experience with it has been pretty janky. The app bars and bottom bars are illegible / have broken backgrounds, some elements don’t load correctly in the app views. Could really stand to have a usability / accessibility audit done because it is way out of compliance for the latter. (As a fan and an experienced product design professional, I’m happy to point you in the right direction / provide detailed screen captures of what’s broken pro bono, please feel free to reach out.)

CoG has great variety, even within just the free games. I played for free for several months without getting bored, and eventually purchased some games not out of necessity because of exhausting the free options but just because I was interested. There’s many different authors, but generally consistent quality through all of the games. I haven’t sampled any that were legitimately awful, but some are particularly stand-out. A personal (free!) favorite of mine is “Death Collector.” There’s a new game roughly every 1-2 months. The ones that have come out recently haven’t interested me personally, but there’s enough backlog of content that I still use the app regularly. Most of the games also have great replay value, but again, some definitely do this better than others. A tip: if you want to save 50-or-so cents on a game, create an account and purchase the game from their website. That way, you pay the sticker price and avoid the app-store tax. The app then lets you “restore purchases” and the game will be available on the app. Uses very little storage space, which is a plus. Runs great, I haven’t had any crashes or major bugs (and I have a pretty old and janky device.) The only thing I would want changed would be the way ads are given on free novels- you have to watch 1 ad to “enter” a novel and 1 ad to “continue.” Because of the timer between chapters on free novels, functionally this makes each novel have 2 ads to play each chapter. If 2 ads is the minimum that they can play per chapter to get enough revenue to run the app, that’s annoying but understandable. But they could have the 2 ads play automatically each time a new chapter is started and skip the farce of only needing to see one— and also allow you to continue playing an ongoing chapter without watching another ad each time you open the novel.

Been playing this on and off since I was a kid lol My only complaint is that the app isn’t entirely dark with dark mode turned on so that’s a little annoying

Choice of games has quality content and you get what you pay for. All of the stories are so engaging and it’s the most fun I’ve had on an app in a long time.
