Description

Need to view a Microsoft Works for Windows document on your Mac? There's an app for that. ••• SALE! FOR A LIMITED TIME: DISCOUNTED FROM $24.99 ••• Finally, you can view the contents of Works email attachments without having to ask a friend to borrow their Windows laptop! Works Document Viewer uses the same technology as our popular Works Viewer for iOS (available on the App Store). Works Document Viewer converts Works for Windows documents into PDF, RTF, or TXT. Drag and drop files into Works Document Viewer, or open them directly. Our handy batch conversion feature allows you convert all of your documents at once! Once you've exported your Works document, you can edit the results in your word processor of choice. • Works Document Viewer is NOT an editor: it converts your WPS documents into a format that can be read on your Mac. • Works Document Viewer does NOT preserve complex page formatting, metadata, margins, headers or footers. Please see the screenshots for representative examples of converted content. Works Document Viewer supports Microsoft Works 2.0 for DOS and Works 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 for Windows (Works for Mac is NOT supported). • Works Viewer only views document files; it does not handle spreadsheet files (XLR). Technical support is readily available from: [email protected].

  • Simply Does Not Work

I downloaded the app from the store and tried to open several old Microsoft .wks files. It simply did not work. I’ve written to the company and if I hear back I will return and adjust my rating and review depending on the outcome.

I purchased this APP and regretted it as soon as It was downloaded. It opened up but was in a code and I could never use the APP. Luckily it was only $3.99 but a waste of money.

I used this app to open an old WPS file that a family member had developed a few years ago in Microsoft Works. Before using this app, I first tried to open the file using my PC computer, thinking that I could open WPS files in Microsoft Word or via a free app in the Microsoft store. Wrong on both accounts. So, I went to the Apple App Store and found this program. It downloaded quickly and once it did, all I had to do was drag and drop the file into the program's “drop zone” (which opened automatically when I downloaded the program) and then the WPS file opened almost instantly. Couldn’t have been easier. After gaining access to the text, I pasted it into Microsoft Word, saved and printed the new Word file, and was on my way - except for writing this review! I’m not sure how often I’ll have a need to use this app in the future, but it sure did the job for me today!

Over the last two weeks I set up a brand new iMac running El Capitan for my wife. After transferring the photos and documents from her old iMac, we discovered that there were several documents that Pages would not open, giving a “cannot open that format” or words to that effect message. After discovering these were Microsoft Works files, I found a reference to Works Document Viewer on the Apple Support forums and checked it out in the App store. It sounded like exactly what we needed, so I bought it—can’t go wrong for $3.99! It was incredibly easy to use and after experimenting with the conversion of a single file to ensure it would open in Pages, I batch converted all the Works files, which the program stored immediately in the new folder I had created for them. The batch conversion process took about one second when everything was ready to go. Couldn’t have been easier. We really don’t have any other files to convert, but this program was certainly worth every penny to breath new life into these old family documents. I recommend it highly.

Didn’t convert it correctly. Dropped it in & totally re-created the document….. Bummer. Wouldn’t recommend.

This is a great app! Just drag and drop and everything pops up for you in a new window as perfect as when it was first written. Thank you so much! Way better than the apps that only show you half of the document. Thank you so much!
  • Worthless, don’t buy the upgrade.

Got the free version and it worked great, upgraded to the current version and it wouldn’t show complete text or images. Money down the drain as far as I see it.
