Lenovo Smart Frame

Feb 2024 update 2: they got the back end fixed, so back to three stars. If local photos worked I’d give it four. Feb 2024 update: app not working again, so down to one star again. Will update if and when they get it fixed again. …but awfully frustrating that the smart frame turns into a very dumb frame when the cloud services are down. It’s Lenovo so you’d think it’d be pretty solid… but so far over a couple years of ownership I’ve seen at least two multi-day outages?!?! And some bugs and flaky UI decisions and limitations and I’ll be generous and give it three stars for now (May 2022).

Kinda monthly drops in connectivity. And once it’s gone. You have to start everything again. Delete and re add all your albums. Frame is nice. But for the money snd now that it’s apparently no longer being manufactured it’s a very expensive digit photo frame only… shame.

Won’t allow me to connect to my smart frame because it won’t even let me login. Seems like this has been an issue for a long time.

Stay away with Lenovo while you can

Do NOT buy Lenovo products!! They do NOT last long. I bought the very expensive smart frame and after I changed my WiFi password it doesn’t pair to the app anymore. I changed everything to match and it says it can’t connect to Google photos?? It makes no sense. And you can forget the website and trying to find a phone number to talk to a human being because apparently there’s no help. Lenovo needs to start investing in R&D again. This is awful!

Great… till after a month it stops updating the pictures from your album and you have to delete the entire album and add it again. And then when it says your login expired. And you log in.. with email or phone number and it still tells you “login expired” and your like… >-<. So currently it’s not updated pictures and I can’t even sign in. Fun times.

I have 2 SmartFrames. Google Photos integration works pretty good. I wish the app had more clock options (such as a digital one) or even one with actual numbers. Also, the classic artwork options are pretty subpar and they should borrow from Google with their curated art/landscape/etc imagery options, similar to that on Google Nest Displays. Ultimately, needs more content options aside from the photos that I take.

Connection is glitchy with Google photos. Need more software support for older products to maintain connectivity. I initially loved the digital photo frame, but would no longer recommend because of its short life span.

The photo upload process can be slow and tedious but I do like the frame overall. When I switch to the clock option, I’d love to see another version that’s a digital clock.
