  • Game breaking bugs!

Of all the predatory behaviors that exist in this game, perhaps the most awful is the shielding system. Long and short—it is entirely possible that a player can put up a shield to protect themselves from attack and it will not actually refresh. This leads to the player becoming chum for the whales no matter what your power level. This game is a money sink full of absolutely offensive business practices.
  • Game of Online Bullies

    By Tanker1986
This could have been an awesome game. The problem is Scopely has allowed many of its servers to become toxic playing grounds. Pay to play players terrorize weaker players by always having more powerful ships and bullying them to follow their versions of Rules of Engagement. The pay to play players will consistently attack lower level players who cannot afford to pay for more powerful ships. Further the higher the level you get, the level of those above you that can attack you increases. This makes it virtually impossible for non paying players to compete or play peacefully. Scopely has had many complaints about this toxic and bully dominated environments but has failed to do anything or even respond. The unfortunate part is CBS’s name is attached to this game and has become synonymous with online bullying for these players. Perhaps a different, more socially and online responsible app developer should be handling the Star Trek brand and CBS should be held accountable for their choices on what developers represent their brands.
  • Way too expensive to F2P

Scopely definitely does not want Free 2 Play on this game. You have to drop mad amounts of money or this is a horrible waste of your time. They have second builder & research queues but you have to drop money on this as well. The builder was $4.99, research $19.99.
  • Way too pay to play

This game is expensive as far as in-app purchases go. So expensive I almost think the prices are so high to encourage people to play without the add-ons. I’m willing to toss a couple bucks around, but for $100 dollars, I’d expect some actual gold pressed Latium to show up at my doorstep.
  • Terrible PVP

Concept: ok. Graphics: could be much better in the universe, but decent ship designs. That’s about all the positive I can say. Massive grind/investment to get anything worthwhile, but the system is completely imbalanced for resource gathering and protection. Example: at level 19, you’re storage cap is barely able to progress you to the next research level. If you manage to stockpile well beyond that by completing missions, your resources are constantly at risk of being stolen by higher level players due to inadequate base defense and resource protection. A player can repeatedly attack your base (90x in one instance) within minutes, smashing your demolished defenses and stealing your entire stockpile of resources. Further, there’s no way to find your attacker following the assault to reclaim your resources. Nothing like beating a player when he’s already down.
  • It’s okey

It really is a good game but it is still kinda pay to win and if you just want to buy some latinim it’s seriously over priced this is one of the only games I’ve seen that charges 5 dollars for 100 and every time you buy something the price seems to go up to something (at least for me)

I’m a long-time player of STFC (2+ years) and I’ve never felt compelled to write a review for any game or app. Yet, here I am posting a review calling out Scopely and their questionable business decisions and the value they place on their every day players. If you’re planning on spending thousands of dollars on a Star Trek game, then you’re in the right spot. When I first started playing, I’d spend $50-$100 a month and was progressing nicely. Now, if I’m not willing to spend $250-$500 a month, I’m falling behind the curve to stay competitive. Scopely has decided to cater the game toward the “whales”; those players willing to spend $1000 or more a month. Lately game developers are focusing on new content and flashy graphics, rather than core game functionality. Issues that have existed for a year or more are ignored, while colored phaser blasts are developed. Development simply and solely focuses on upgrades that fill Scopely’s pockets. Repeated messages to Tech Support are answered with the same “canned” responses. I have 3 open Tech Support tickets for over 6 months where the game took resources from me, but failed to deliver the reward. I would not recommend playing this game unless you recently won the lottery and have money to throw away. Scopely only cares about profits.
  • A serious cash grab

    By Talforian
The game is fairly decent. That said there is a serious pay wall in the game. The cheapest item being 20 up to 100 dollars. So they have definitely made the game for people able to drop serious amounts of money. The amount of items need to upgrade a ship or the buildings is outside the realm of sanity. On the plus side having come back to the game at least you can do some mining without getting killed every time. They very much need to try to rebalance the game.
