It puts a green dot on the Status Bar while the internet is there and turns red when disconnected. There are so many times that we face program failures due to network interruption and we begin to wonder if the internet is working or not. In situations like this, Online will tell your online status in an instant. Users will be able to diagnose the issue immediately if it caused by the Internet. App Highlights: -Notification in Notification Center when disconnected. -Notification in Notification Center when the internet is back on. -Light weighted, doesn’t occupy huge memory. Online may turn out to be a pretty useful app for many users who use the internet frequently.

  • Great at-a-glance app. Am I connected or not?

Great free app tells me internet connection status. I have crappy concrap cable(now xfunky) internet which at times is total crap for connection and internet reliability. I used to have to launch a program on my iMac to see if I was actually connected to the internet. Since I got this app years ago 2018, I can tell at a glance if i”m online or if there is something else going on. So, I absolutely love this easy program that just works away quitely in the background on the Menu bar, showing the green light when all is well, a yellow light warns something is funky and a popup window with a message tells the details, then the red light and a popup tell me that the connection is dead. Green light and a happy popup when back online. Instant knowledge…for free. It don’t get any better. Hats off to the creator of this wonderful little widget! Home run dude!

I have frequent short disconnects from the Internet - this app makes them bearable for me to work around.

It will be nice to select bits vs bytes per second.

Have you ever "sent" an email and discovered some time later that you were offline and the email is still in your outbox? Have you ever typed a URL into your browser and sat there waiting for it to pop onto your monitor, and your browser reports that the site is unreachable, so you carefully re-type the URL and it still comes back unreachable, and then you go to a site that you know should be online, and you discover that it too is "unreachable"? This little app will let you know whether you're on or offline without having to check the lights on your modem. And... it's free!

update done August 23rd on MacBook Pro can’t make up its mind whether to be green or yellow. Constant switching back and forth is distracting. Had to quit the app. Internet connection seemed to be constant and working all the time. Maybe my connection is momentarily off and on, but the browser seems to not mind. So perhaps “on line” has become too sensitive to micro interruptions? Anyway, It is now UNusable.
  • Almost perfect

Works great and I would give it 5 stars if it would keep a record of dates and times of drops. That way I’d have something to throw at my provider.
  • A great marital aid ;-)

Both notification and alert sound makes this the best of these apps. When my wife hogs WiFi with video, I use ethernet. But the connector frequently slips out. This app let’s me know instantly, so I don’t get annoyed.
  • Unfortunately, doesn’t work for me.

To me, seems like it can only detect whether your device are properly assigned IP but not actually that you’re ‘Online’, connecting to the Internet. I found a case where the router was partially down, your browser stuck in ‘Resolving host…’ but not bringing you to the targeted web, the green light of the application still bright. The bottom line is, it’s not reliable.
