  • Just what I needed, plus more

After a scare at losing data after a pc disc crash, I wanted to secure my family photos on my iPad, where backups are automatic. I downloaded my photo files, but found that saving/sharing had a glitch: the Apple transfer options scrambled the order of the photo files. Seeing grandma in London, then in Pittsburg just didn’t work for me. If only I could access the photo files directly, and essentially create an album, they would stay in the original order. Enter filebrowser. Another user, who had a more sophisticated problem, discovered that he could use filebrowser to fit his issue. I checked it out, and found it would do exactly what I wanted, plus it had the ability to manage multiple file sources, and had extra resources, which I have yet to evaluate, but look forward to it. Being able to check out all my photos, in whatever file they reside, and call up a slideshow that can be easily cast to a large screen tv, is easily worth the one time price of this app. I expect the other features substantially increase its value. I plan to check back later to update this review, but right now, five stars. Tom Clancy, signing off

Been running into an issue as of late, and perhaps its an AT&T thing, but Ill start to download a file from my FTP server and the transfer will cancel within a few seconds "Error: 500 Dat", and I cant read the rest. Never had this type of trouble downloading over cellular before. I have unlimited data and pretty snappy service.

Some days it works, and some days it doesn’t. With no change to settings. App frequently crashes when deleting a location. None of the recommended troubleshooting in the app or on the website works when it won’t connect.
  • I just bought the app

But I can’t upload photos from my iPad. It only let me upload from files but not the photos app. It’s kind of useless to me if it can’t upload photos. 🫥Edit: I had to save into files in order to upload it

Not sure when, as I do not often transfer mp4 files. But when I first got this app the transfer and playback were fine. More recently however I have found that video files transferred to the iPad are damaged in some way. It’s as if only a fraction of frames per second are playing, resulting in sloppy playback that is painful to watch (and might induce seizures in some people). Since it didn’t used to behave like this I can only assume that the developers broke something and haven’t fixed it. Do not buy this app if you want to use it to transfer and play home videos. Right now it’s only useful for photos or documents.

I now have the peace of mind with my private cloud, and a way to access my data like a professional system admin. Thank you!!!!

No other app comes close to the value FileBrowser gives me in bridging every corner of my digital universe. It allows me to move content across my Windows machines, my network, DropBox and my photos effortlessly and even delivered a solution to archive giant shared iCloud albums every other solution was choking on. If I could have only one app it would be this one.
