  • Latest update is buggy

This most recent app version update is buggy. The app constantly crashes on my phone (iphone 12 mini, running ios 16.3.1).
  • Love NYT, App not functioning

In past few weeks, despite (or because of?) installing updates, the app has become non-functional. It opens and is immediately frozen, will not scroll or respond. I’ve rebooted and troubleshooted with no success. Can’t find a way to contact NYT about the issue directly, so adding my voice to complaints here in hopes it will be fixed soon! Unacceptable for such a major media outlet to be inaccessible by its app in this day and age. Also, could do without the extra videos, graphics, and stylized roll-out of certain articles’ text— Just let me read the articles without adding superfluous content that clearly taxes the technology to the point of malfunction! More narrated articles would be nice, though.
  • Freezes, crashes

I’m up to date on my iPad os and NYT app, app is freezing and crashing. It used to work fine for me.
  • NYT app quality is low

This app crashes consistently for now apparent reason whatsoever. You’d think the NYT would be able to afford to hire an outfit that can write a stable app. Y’all at NYT ought to ask Facebook who developed and maintains their app—it almost never crashes.
  • Filled with ads, crashes constantly

A much worse experience than the web version. This has too many ads for a paid service, and I can’t finish an article without the app crashing, on the current newest iPhone.
  • Declining

App keeps freezing and doesn’t download as much content for airplane mode as a couple years ago. Probably to serve more ads. Frustrating
  • Crypto Misinformation

I cancelled my sub after many years due to the sneaky, bad faith photo in their crypto hit piece “The Real-World Cost….” They use a photo of dense fog, obviously trying to pretend it’s smog. If they’re puppets about decentralized tech, I wonder what else they are disinforming about. As a former journalist, I find tactics like the NYT’s beneath contempt.
  • I do not recommend New York Times to anyone looking for equal media coverage in the United States.

After using the app for a few weeks, it became very clear to me that most writers are writing from the perspective of the left wing. Anything regarding Trump on the app is very hard to read because of how much he is criticized. I would not call myself a Trump supporter but after reading at least a dozen articles about him, I do not think I saw one positive thing written about him. This is what I think is wrong with todays media and political coverage in general. While Trump has clearly said and done some very inappropriate things in his life and professionally career, he also did a few great things for the country. I would not recommend the app for anyone who wants to see both sides of every story.
  • Ruins my Wordle!

I got the app to easily play Wordle and other games, but it constantly refreshes in the middle of my Wordle game and clears all my progress.
  • Cannot access Vertex

Have a games subscription. Keeps asking me to subscribe. Can access other games, not Vertex.
