  • Waste of money and time!!!

This is the most illogical piece of software I've ever had to deal with in my entire life. the user interface is so confusing. I still cant figure out how to use this. there are lots of abbreviations in the app which you need to go and figure out (such as: M1, S, T, S, P)??? The help section takes you to a page where it says: The selected content is currently unavailable. The version on app store says: 4.3.4 but when you open it in your computer, it says 4.3.2 The app is buggy and some functions don’t always work. This app creates more confusion than being useful and contacting mDecks will be ignored.

This is the best music app I have ever purchased. You must take your time to learn this app. I highly suggest watching the YouTube series to get some understanding of what you are amount to jump in to. The app has a nice layout and provides a great combination of theory and practice. I have learned so much from it for the past year and am still learning more.
  • a buggy, unfinished, seemingly abandoned, and potentially brilliant practice aid

I purchased the full Mac and iPhone versions of this a couple of years ago, and they've been helpful... except not nearly as much as they could be. The iPhone version unfortunately will not render note values except quarter notes, which severely limits its utility for practicing, and this Mac version has constant annoying bugs. Most of all, the sections of the Preference panel for choosing patterns, approaches/escapes/enclosures, and rhythms constantly disappear. I have to quit the app and reload (which annoyingly resets some of my preferences like note range every time) to get it back, and lately those panel sections will disappear again as soon as I resize the window or do basically anything else. This is frustrating, because at the core of the app is an amazing resource. But I will not even consider MDeck's Mapping Tonal Harmony app until they show that I'm not basically just throwing money away again. Just fix this app, please.

What happened to playing substructures. Or the update? It would be nice to click on a substructure and hear it.

I bought this to help speed up decisions while I compose, as I am fairly new to theory. The problem I tend to have is remembering what the harmonic avoid notes are for each scale, and this has helped immensely. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to find things. You can do it the way they suggest, which is by interval, or if you already know the scale you can just type it in the search bar. I’ll admit if I can’t get to something within the first 5 minutes of using it I don’t generally like that piece of software. There are a great many scales here, and much more than that. For this price it’s a steal. Particularly when you consider notation software and DAWs all cost significantly more. If you’re willing to pay for sheet music, but are unwilling to pay this much for what this does you won’t be happy with anything and are probably a miserable person. Thanks for creating this amazing piece of software.

I really love this software. I have hoped for a app for like this for years. I just have one small concern that may not affect everyone, but a select group. If you would add a font enlarger capability for the Staff lines and notes. I figured how to enlarge what I needed enlarge. So I am increasing my rating for this app. It is a great app.
  • GREAT APP, but...

Hey everyone, very quickly: This is a fantastic app. It’s power as a practice tool is virtually unlimited. However, it crashed on me recently and I’ve been unable to open it again! I’ve called and written to the email on their main website and have not heard back! I would love to endorse this app, but if only I could get some answers and a resolution as to why I can’t OPEN IT!!!!!
  • Extremely Convoluted Upon Opening

Great commercial. I was somehow convinced that I would purchase the app and be navigated through a world of exotic scales and the like. So far it’s a convoluted matrix of a LIMITED amount of scales. (so far I’m only seeing 20 scales as they relate to certain chord qualities.) When I want to start from a clean slate, it’s not possible. I wanted to look up the Symmetrical scale and at one point was shonw an Altered Symmetrical but NOT the scale I was looking for. furthermore I had to purchase it TWICE thinking buying the IOS version would also show up on my iPad like EVERY OTHER APP I own. I’m praying that some of these tutorials will sort things out or I will be asking for a REFUND for BOTH PURCHASES!! Terribly disappointed currently

This app keeps getting better on every update. Now Bi-Triadic Hexatonics, WOW!!! A must have for all musicians that are serious about music. I can’t believe they have all the scales in Music! Just for that this app should be twice the price. The theoretical approach is excellent, and the possibilities are endless. If you are a Jazz player or composer you can’t go wrong with this app. Very recommendable.
