Description

Dr. Fred’s mutated purple tentacle is about to take over the world, and only you can stop him! Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world! Now, over twenty years later, Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects (which the original 90s marketing blurb described as ‘zany!’). Players are able to switch back and forth between classic and remastered modes, and mix and match audio, graphics and user interface to their heart’s desire. We’ve also included a concept art browser, and recorded a commentary track with the game’s original creators Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian. Day of the Tentacle was Tim Schafer’s first game as co-project lead, and a much beloved cult classic! This special edition has been lovingly restored and remade with the care and attention that can only come from involving the game's original creators. MINIMUM SPECS: OS: Lion 10.7 Processor: Intel Core Duo Memory: 2 GB RAM Graphics: GeForce GTX 260, ATI Radeon 4870 HD, Intel HD 3000, or equivalent card with at least 512 MB VRAM Storage: 2500 MB available space Additional Notes: Must have OpenGL 3 with GLSL version 1.3

I recently hacked my NES classic, and the first game i added was Maniac Mansion. Upon playing it for hours at work while we were slow with my co-workers, i started to recall that there was a sequel. I went home and picked up DAY OF THE TENTACLE. It's a great game, and most of the puzzles take thought, but you can figure out without getting help. Excellent story, excellent graphics, and a game thats totally worth picking up. Also, if you dont want to illegally hack your NES classic, Maniac Mansion is included in this game as well...

Wow this game looks amazing! I can’t believe they remastered this! Thank you! I remember having to split up the original 15mb game into multiple disks. Wow remastered to 2.35gb. Animations look smooth. The commentary is great for old fans, which I’m assuming is the most of us downloading this game from the 90s. Great job and hats off to the devs!

I love the improved (non-pixelated) artwork. Really enjoyed the directors commentary. Really impressed how they improved the experience without changing the game. LOVED playing the game again. I used to have to grab the old Mac version (that wouldn’t run on mac anymore) import it into a pc, run SCUMM VM to emulate it, run parallels to allow me to run windows on my mac and then play the game. And yes, it was worth all that. Now I can just load it up and play. A great game. Funny, challenging and thoroughly enjoyable. I highly recommend it. My family has enjoyed playing it and replaying it for 20 years. There are many lines from the game that we use all the time. So glad to see it brought back. Now I just hope for a sequel . . .

The original was fantastic. This is better than. Double-Fine Productions did an amazing job bringing back a classic Lucasarts game with their SCUMM engine to the 21st century! Family fun for everyone, a time-travel adventure filled with ridiculousness and hijinx and left to please everyone. I played this game originally when I was 14 years old and now I’m playing with my 9 year old. I am proud to play this adventure and thank you very much Double-Fine foe keeping amazing games update for everyone.
