Help Manny untangle himself from a conspiracy that threatens his very salvation. One of the most acclaimed adventure games of all time is now back, better than ever. Grim Fandango's epic story of four years in the life (or death) of Manny Calavera, travel agent to the dead, has been remastered to look, sound, and control even better than when it won GameSpot's Game of the Year award upon its original launch. • Why won’t it open again???

I got this game yesterday, and I love it. I played for about 2 hours on my MacBook Pro, and it worked great. Today, it won’t even open! Developers, please fix this problem! It doesn’t make any sense that I could open and play it just yesterday, but it won’t even go past the title screen before it crashes. Worthless.

Don’t hate me. I know I’m in the minority here, but this game has the most obscure, annoying clues of all time. And it drags on so badly trying to figure out what to do with all the collected items, that you lose track of what’s even going on. Glottis is the most annoying character and you have no choice but to listen to him huffing and puffing and making stupid noises. I finally just deleted it from my computer. I give up.

Back in the 1998 I reviewed Grim Fandango for the PC as a staff writer from the Miami Herald. I had a video game weekly review, (the only one at the time in newspapers) that I have high marks for it’s use of colors, dialogue, setting and just a game that you had to invest sometime into. Well worth it then and now! This game at the time used 2 CDs that you had to swap back and forth. I also interviewed the creators from LucasArts and also visited ILM and Skywalker Ranch. Bravo I hope more classic games from the 90s makes it to the mac real soon.
  • Parhaps nice 20 years ago...

I bought this game since it had many positive reviews. However after half an hour of gameplay, I realized that it did not stand the time. It was probably a nice game for the ‘90s*, but today I would say that it’s boring and incoherent: there are mistakes in the gameplay, sometimes there is no logic in the puzzles and it gives you the constant feeling that the characters are waiting for you to do just the right thing to move on with the story… I would look for somewhere else to spend 5$ * in fact many of the positive reviews come from people who played this game back in the days
  • Happy to see it is back!

My sons and I played this extensively in the 90s. They will still recite lines from it. I was glad to see it offered as a remastered version for Mac. Besides all the positive comments below about the story line, cleverness, charm of the characters, and artwork, do not miss the music. It is a real soundtrack—composed and performed by actual real, live, talented musicians—not all electronic—and I actually own the soundtrack as well. Overture and everything—pay attention to it as you play—it makes the enjoyment of this enchanting game even better.

I have been looking for another good aventure game since the Longest Journey. I tried playing this on my PC but I never got it to work since the game was too old. Sooo happy they re-made this. Thanks.

I wanted to get this back in the day, but I couldn’t afford it. Now that I’m rich (that’s rich), I sprung for this classic. One of the features that I never thought about, was the developer’s commentary. There is some excellent backstory about the game, that provides insight int othe game industry in 1998, and now. Also, the transcript gives you the titles of characters, as well as clear dialogue. Helpful, as it is interesting.
  • Entertaining - but crashes constantly

The dialogue and the premise are intriguing, but the game crashes on my Macbook Air constantly, maybe every five minutes of game time. Makes it too frustrating to continue, and, of course, no refunds. If I could return it I would and try to see if it works better on the iPad.
