Description

FTP Server provides a simple way to share/exchange files between your computers and other devices. * Ports below 1024 are supported now (including port 21). FTP(File Transfer Protocol) is a standard network protocol used to transfer computer files from one host to another host over a TCP-based network, such as the Internet. FTP Server lets you run the FTP service on your own computer and you can access the files on the host computer with any standard FTP client such as FileZilla or WinSCP. OS X provides read-only FTP access in Finder, you can press Command-K in a Finder window and enter the FTP URL (something like ftp://192.168.0.100:2121/), and connect to FTP Server. FTP Server comes with its own authentication, you don't need to expose your computer accounts to other people nor do you need to create a system user for the authentication purpose. * Features • Easy to use: you can simply start the FTP service without any additional configuration. • Configurable: server root, port, anonymous access options are available. • Built-in authentication. • Lightweight: FTP Server requires very little resources to run. • All kinds of regular files supported: folders, documents, photos, movies, apps, backups and other files. * Please restart the FTP service after changing the FTP Server settings. Note: The default document root points to "/Users/*username*/Library/Containers/net.langui.FTPServer/Data/Documents/FTPShare", you can press Command-G in Finder to go to destination folder.

o CPU usage: 1.5% of 1 core uploading on my MSU o Pretty easy to set up (given that it's add-on FTP) o Supports SFTP o Good preferences controls o Menu item with direct prefs access o Can auto run the server on startup This app saved my cheeks. Both of them. As is typical, Apple has blundered into the future with blinders on, fingers in ears, and a level of paternal "no you can't" that should NEVER be applied to adults. But with Coral Wu's "FTP Server" we have a solution to at least one of Apple's foot-shooting episodes. HIGHLY recommended! Thank you to the dev. Truly, thank you, thank you. Xiéxié nǐ / 谢谢你 !!!

I have a whole meangerie of vintage computers, ranging from the 1970's (Apple II series, Commodore stuff, TRS-80's, etc.) through late 1990's (Silicon Graphics, NeXT machines, HP PA-RISC workstations, various Macs, etc.). While many of them have built-in networking (or some kind of modern networking upgrades), few if any of them can successfully navigate the modern SSL-encrypted Web. For that reason, it's been incredibly handy to run a small internal FTP server on my home network, for all these fun old machines to tie into. This little app makes it painless and easy to do exactly that, and I'm really happy I found it. It's easy to configure, fast, lightweight and never crashes. Highly recommended!

Once upon a time I’d give this 5 stars, then it crapped out. I didn’t update my system, I didn’t do a thing. I was using this FTP app to allow my IP cams to save files to my mac. One day I noticed that the app had quit so I relaunched my computer (the app is set to start at log-in) and that’s when I realized the app had messed itself. My HD was chugging away at something, non-stop, and activity monitor showed the FTP app gobbling up memory. The computer was using HD space as memory because this app had sucked up all of the free memory available. BAD. I contacted the seller through their website, no reply. No solution. Figuring it was a fluke, once I got my system back to normal by booting from another drive, I deleted the app and reinstalled. Same thing all over again. The app is garbage. I won’t be using it anymore. Junk.
  • Works Perfectly

Thank you. I just needed a simple utility to move files between my Routers and Switches and my MAC. using the built in MAC terminal commands was a pain and it seemed like there was always some permissions or other settings I got wrong. Giving me a nice clean User Interface is a blessing. I just had to change the default port # to match the routers and bingo, first try it worked.
  • So glad I found this App.

Its been harder and harder to find FTP Server support on my devices that actually work and so simply. I still work with vintage devices that have the only means to the out side world to them through FTP and I mean the original FTP. I have other FTP Servers Apps, but have stopped working with my vintage devices, either cause of OS Upgrades/Updates. I don't know when, but all my ios FTP Servers seized to work, not sure but I believe when OS's went for 32 bit to 64 bit is when I noticed. The only thing I can wish other then this App is if you could please make an IOS FTP Server App that actually works like this App. Thank you!

Got a response. And the solution partially worked. Will create directories from cams, but some still won't upload the .jpg files. Timing out? Permissions? Works for some cams, not others. I've posted several requests for support without response. Most recently after move to Big Sur. The issue is... I can get access to FTP site, but, either empty files are uploaded, or, sub directories are created, but no files are uploaded from my external web cams. Internal web cams work fine. What is going on? Error message from FTP Client... 220 FTP Server ready. USER WebCam 331 Username ok, send password. PASS 230 Login successful. • Doesn't work with Fetch

Trying to move stuff between a new Catalina-based Macbook Pro and an old PowerMac. Fetch does not connect either anonymously or with username/password. QuickFTP seems to work better.
  • Two good things

    1. It has LOG FILES! These are indispensable in debugging file transfer problems. 2. It works correctly with the Canon 1Ds Mark III camera's WFT-E2 II A wireless file transfer accessory. This is ancient and represents a real nuts-and-bolts network interface: you get to hand-specify host name/address, LAN SSID and password, user name and password, port number, DNS server, netmask and all the rest by twirling wheels on the back of the camera, so a minimum of trial attempts is a Good Thing! C.f. point 1: LOG FILES!
  • Works Great with Both Mojave and High Sierra; Easy Setup—Thank You!

I need FTP to support legacy network scan-from-copier_to_Mac. The installation and setup was simple and straightforward. I initially installed on High Sierra, then Mojave, and back now on High Sierra (macOS 10.13.6 on an SSD wo APFS), having downgraded from the aforementioned Mojave.

The machine where the server has been installed iMac 27’’ i7 High Sierra The machine which is supposed to access the server Mac mini 2018 Sharing is ON on both machines The router does show both computers, yet none is shown in the Finder sidebar Any guidence from developer? Will gladle change the rating once the app is working
