  • Used to work great but keep getting "damaged"

    It used to work great but now when I try to open the app it says "Camera Lock" is damaged and can't be opened. Delete "Camera Lock" and download it again from the App Store. I follow those instructions and it works once then I get the error again. So not very useful. If this gets fixed I'll revisit my review.

  • No Visible User Interface or way to stop it

    I would like to rate this higher but I don't see any contorls or feedback when I start it. I can see that it is running with the Activity Monitor and I can test it by trying to open the camera and see that it is blocked. Is ia suppose to show me a control window? Currently, I have to "force quit" it in the Activity Monitor to stop it - sort of a pain. I am running this on MacBookPro M1 Max running Ventura v13.0.1

    I've been using this app and its Microphone Lock counterpart for years. It works. Once it's running, try running any app that you know that uses the camera.

  • Great App

    It always annoyed me tht some apps, like Skype, access the camera without asking for permission. This app prevents that. It resides in the menubar where it is easy to activate and deactivate. It works great.

  • Lack of transparency

    While the app does what it says and is pretty user friendly. There doesn’t seem to be much assurance from the developer over app transparency. Is the code open-source so anyone can check they aren’t actually spying? If you’re downloading this sort of software you want assurances that the app is not going to do the same thing that it is proposing to stop (i.e. intro. back doors, key logging, etc.) When they upgrade the transparency in this regard, I’d be happy to give them 5 stars.

  • Works well, except...

    “Helper” menubar app is always using at least 1.8% of my processor power. Will give it a try sometime later and see if it’s less demanding. Meanwhile, I stuck a piece of transparent tape over the camera. That way my screen’s automatic brightness works but any video is all blurry.
