I think they should use phonetics with the new language words. It is very hard to understand a new pronunciation if the new language uses a different alphabet. i.e. d in English is d , in Vietnamese it an s sound. I like the app but they could add phonics to help you learn faster, with less frustration especially for those with hearing impairments.
  • It’s a good app but just one condition

I really like the app, but why do we need Harts just to keep the lesson going? I know that the peoples using this app will make a mistake but I don’t think that you really need to remove a Hart. Thank you!

All I have to say is that Duolingo is amazing! I learning really fast! I love how it doesn’t start you off at the beginning and it gives you the option to show what you already know! Really great, and next thing you know I’ll be speaking Spanish pretty well. Overall it’s a great app, I highly recommend it!

I generally don’t ever write reviews but I’m getting frustrated with these new updates that started in 2020. Look, there used TO NOT BE A HEART SYSTEM! But now they’ve made it so they can try and get people to buy PLUS. (I understand this is how they’re gonna make money and stuff but they’re almost trying everything they can to get more people to buy plus. Ugh also the fact that they’re already playing an ad every single time you finish a lesson for the regular non plus version is already gonna be making them a ton of money!) Once they even changed the app so you couldn’t get any new hearts by reviewing old lessons, meaning you really couldn’t learn anything without SPENDING GEMS, waiting 5 HOURS FOR ONE HEART, being EXTREMELY careful. There was once a chance to buy unlimited hearts for 30 minutes with the gems and also an XP double ramp up for 30 minutes with the gems as well. Now those are both gone too. Oh another thing is the stories. You used to be able to read stories and get 24+ XP from each one! Now you can do them twice. Once for around 14 XP and again for 7 XP. Might not seem like a huge difference but guess what else is wrong with the stories. You can LOSE HEARTS BY READING STORIES. **not just the new ones you haven’t done, but also the old stories you haven’t!! I really want to learn new languages. But this app keeps making it HARDER AND HARDER to do so. It’s making me feel stressed when doing lessons because I know I’m going to make mistakes and lose hearts. There’s literally no way to learn a language without making mistakes!!! So far I’ve learned quite a bit from Duolingo but I’m just getting super duper annoyed with recent updates. I would’ve recommended this app back in 2019 but now... I’m not sure if I can. One last thing before I go, PRO TIP: use the browser version right now there isn’t a heart system on it... until they change that too😒😒
