Instructed to communicate with "app support" re: app sudden but persistent inability to "search"; "no URL" pops up WHEN YOU CLICK ON LINK. Cancelling subscription. It has been good for a lot of years til now.

No great review needed the map specks for it self. Location made easier to find plus a picture of the location with it.

  • My Must Have App

Since I got my first iPad some years ago, this has been my favorite app. Its design makes it much easier than any other map app to use for navigation, street view, and my profession/hobby of geology. Having satellite from both Apple and Google is great because I can choose the one that displays the best view of my target street travel or geologic feature. The street view control is easier than other map apps, and the labels are a good size. Very legible, but not so big they obscure the map. I know several users are unhappy about the new subscription, but it was necessitated by an increase in costs that are beyond the developers' control. It was not a case of greed. Having looked at similar apps, I was delighted by the low price of the DuoMaps subscription and feel that it is well worth the price of two lattes for a year's use of street views. It sure beats the possibility of losing DuoMaps entirely.
  • Family share?

I have had this app for a long time but rarely use it. Now I see the message and reviews about a subscription? My husband loves this app and uses it all the time. He will buy an annual subscription. Do I understand the subscription correctly? The app permits family sharing except for “in-app purchases. In order to buy the necessary subscription you have to buy it within the app. Therefore all family subscribers must also individually BUY subscriptions??? And the data still comes from either Google or Apple. I guess I don’t “love” this app enough. I can use Apple or Google Maps. Sorry, not worth it for me.
  • Greedy developers and their “subscription fees”

Update 1-12-20: It seems that some highly suspect reviews (hint: effusive praise with not one but three flowery adjectives in the same sentence is usually the sign of a fake review or a paid shill) are now saying that a subscription fee was beyond the developer’s control, which is flat out untrue. Many other apps somehow manage to provide street view without the necessity of a subscription model, so don’t give me the song and dance about Apple or Google forcing these changes being beyond a developer’s control. And although I know that the latest developer talking point in the shady bait-and-switch model of first charging for an app and then adding a subscription fee years down the road is to trot out the “can’t expect a lifetime of free updates” line—no. Just no. Stop with this bogus Strawman argument. Nobody is asking for free developer work. We are asking that you not change the rules of the purchase after we have already met your terms and paid in full. To continue the inane “new car” analogy: what the developer did here is akin to selling a new car at a set price, allowing the customer to pay it off in cash on the spot, and then contacting the customer a few years down the road to demand a monthly payment in perpetuity or else have the steering wheel functionality turned off. THAT is not just greed—it is both dishonest and unethical. Original review: Yet another case of greedy developers saying “Oops—we didn’t rip off our customers enough when we first released our app, so let’s quick strip basic functionality and hold it hostage for a subscription fee!” You already charged us to download the app years ago, and I have no problem with that—after all, developers deserve to be paid for their work. However, this bait-and-switch tactic after the fact (removing features we already use and have already paid for) is completely dishonest, and it is a trend that needs to stop. Charging a subscription fee for a service (street view) that we can get for free on a dozen other apps, desktop, and mobile browsers is nothing more than a shameless money grab, and you know it. Developers of a map app suddenly losing their moral “compass”? If nothing else, I guess you’ve provided us with the very definition of irony. App deleted.

It’s all about the money now. Used to be my favorite app for street view, heck that’s why I downloaded it!! I’ve had this app for over 4 years, and now with the recent update they want a monthly subscription just like a typical money grabber app. Looks like I have to go look for another app now 🤷🏻‍♂️
