I train using an old Garmin 305. Garmin Training Center software has not been updated in many years, and no longer works on modern macOS's. So I use an old macOS 10.12 Sierra virtual machine to download my training data from my 305 (using the last version Garmin Training Center), then I export the data as .TCX or .GPX files, which I then import to Trail Runner mini on my modern iMac (2020, running Big Sur 11.7.8), and, voila, all my routes immediately appear on beautifully detailed, interactive maps, along with elevation profile. If you're as old school as all this, I would highly recommend Berbie's app as a way to continue using your favorite old Garmin.

This is probably the best Mac-based running route app. I use the iOS iSmoothRun on iphone for actually running and export runs to Trailrunner mini via Dropbox. It's nice to see my routes on a bigscreen vs just on my iphone. The app did hang a couple of times when I tried to import a large number (200-300) of my past exported runs. I did import them successfuly by reducing the number of imports at one time. I wanted an app that allowed me to export all my run data and Trailrunner mini does this—a hard requirement for me. I refuse to use other apps that lock your data in and prevent you from exporting it. I've been bitten too many times when many apps eventually stop being supported and you lose your data. The subscription cost is well worth having a good app. Developers need to support themselves too, I don't understand how others can complain that developers should give away their hardwork for free. :–((

I find the mapping great - it enables me to see my runs and cycle routes on a big screen.

Evidently, a subscription begins when you download the app. However, there is not a way to cancel the subscription.

I use TRm to plan and document hikes and it is capable in this regard. Developer regularly improves/maintains app, and has been resposive to my inquiries. Recommended.

Although this is listed as Free, it's not. I was able to load one gpx file and try to use it. It was super awkward and kept changing my view. Then I had to restart my computer. Now when I load it, I either have to pay for a subscription or quit it.
  • Great app for bike trips

I find this app is almost perfect for planning a long bike trip. I can import other people's routes, adjust them, while it tells me distances and elevations along the way. It's snaps to roads easily and intuatively. But it's one flaw is that the route must go along a known road or major path. Which would be really annoying for runners and mountain bikers who make their own paths.

Posts on App Store as free and then requires a subscription to use. RIP OFF
  • Not worth a subscription

I didnt’t like that this was a subscription, but thought I’d try it anyway. I just wasted an hour and still couldn’t find the trails I was looking for. It’s hard to read and hard to use. Not user friendly. AND, I can’t seem to find a way to cancel my subscription.
