If you love Texas BBQ, you know Texas Monthly is a trusted voice in this ever-evolving, fast-moving food scene. This app is great for finding that smoked meat goodness, Texas style, when you travel. My favorite feature is probably the built-in, region-specific guides with maps that use GPS from your phone to get you close. I took off 1 star because they want a subscription to submit written reviews. With Yelp and TripAdvisor you only need an account to submit written reviews, so I’m confused as to why TM thinks users should pay for that opportunity.

Wow. I had this app back when it first came out, and all of the missing features have been added. You can save your favorites, map out plans to chow down, and see other users’ ratings. Love it.
  • Excellent reference for locals and visitors

States it’s a reader’s work in progress but seems no way to suggest a local (or not) BBQ favorite by the neighbors Our faviorate is Chasin Tail in Lake Dallas just off I35E

Just found 2M in San Antonio on the way home from the beach - amazing! Great to see proximity and Top 50 mark in an easy list.

Doesn’t work. No mapping feature for locations near your current location. The back button doesn’t work. The reviews are outdated. No photos or places for viewers comments. Bring back the old app

Update is horrible. It use to tell you what BBQ was actually near you. Now it just gives you a random list of places that are hours away from where you are. Old version featured reviews from patrons which was nice, it was good to hear what locals liked. New version is kind of useless. Seems like they forgot to finish the app.
