    Trash app. It takes an act of god for it to “connect” and recognize that you are in fact online despite yourself looking at your screen and knowing you are. The ads are overwhelming to the point that it’s clear advertising comes first and user experience is a distant accidental second - maybe. And you introduce new users to your frustrating non working interface expecting them to pay for this garbage? This app is a textbook example of the enshittification of the internet.

  • Too far gone

    Updates and new features are just making the environment worse. Roaming is pretty much the last straw for me. I get the intent behind it but in reality it just promotes bots, catfishing etc. I can refresh the home page and have an entirely new grid appear every 2 minutes, and everyone is hundreds of miles away. Every once in a GREAT while like I’m talking every six months I might find an actual human and connect so there’s that little light in the bleak tunnel that Grindr has become. Used to be fun and lots of legitimate chat and meet but not anymore

    This app continues to get worse and worse. The grid is totally messed up showing folks 40+ miles away. And now advertisements show up in the messages area. They do nothing to regulate drug use and human trafficking.

  • Fake Profiles Fraud

    Beware Grindr Uses & Manipulates “Fake Profiles” to lure users into $ subscription. What you see on the grid is NOT REALITY. This is Fraud. Sometimes you can’t recognize a single “local” profile on the grid. Some of the profiles shown will never be found no matter where you look. The “fake” profiles are easy to spot, look out of place, often claims “Visiting”, geographically off or display strange looking people. Where did the local profiles go ?

    It seems like every time I open this app I’m able to access fewer profiles unless I have a paid subscription (for an insane amount of money. $24 for 7 days? Are you kidding?) I live in a major metro area and can see 45 profiles without paying. It used to be twice as many. And, those 45 aren’t even arranged in distance order anymore (yes I have location enabled so it’s the app, not my settings causing that issue). (Update 10/16: can see 11 profiles for free and now we have full-screen ads popping up plus ads forced into your message list that you can delete but that will return every time you open the app again I finally broke and got a subscription to see if it was worth it. Somehow after paying the extortion oops I mean subscription, the app functioned even more poorly. Message and taps don’t show. App freezes when blocking a bot. More bots are sending messages. These developers seem to be taking our money and investing very little of it in improving the app. Pretty soon there will be no free version. They are friendly when you report a problem but their only fix is to delete and reinstall.
