Description

This application and AUv3 plugin is based on the PaulStretch algorithm, (Paul’s Extreme Time Stretch, originally developed by Nasca Octavian Paul), and specifically the PaulXStretch version from Xenakios. The UI has been updated and adapted for various platforms and screen sizes. The plugin/application is most suitable for radical transformation of sounds. It is *not* designed for subtle time or pitch corrections! Ambient music and sound design are probably the most suitable use cases. It can turn any short audio into an hours long ambient soundscape without batting an eye! You can get audio into it either by using the "Capture" feature, or by loading an existing audio file. Once you have something in there, then you can start tweaking all the parameters, choose the portion of the audio to use and loop over, etc. Be sure to press the play button inside to enable the processing. To get your audio out, you can do an offline render of the output to a file (where all parameters are fixed), or you can do a live recording of your session to capture the output as you hear it. Either way, you can then share or access the saved audio from the Files app or by sharing it. The AUv3 plugin version has the same capabilities, except you can feed it the live input of your choice (to capture internally for stretching). This software is free, please enjoy it!

I had this app in beta and it was great. If you are into ambient this app will be up your ally. You can get some fabulous sounds from your samples. I know if I get lost in an app for a few hours at a time it must be a good app.

I don’t have any sort of technology available for music making besides an iPhone, so this is very helpful. I’ve been using this app since it was in it’s beta phase and it’s still really incredible. Using this app, I made around 3 ambient albums under the name slacks bar and grill. Once again, thank you so much for making this available for iOS. If I could reach through the screen and hug you, I would.

With a capital ‘S’ for Sound. Ambient sound. With so many synth apps I’d wished I’d never bought, this, I’d paided real money for! Ambient play toy, only not a top. Experimental goodness.
  • A Desktop Freeware Classic Now On iPhone (YAY!)

Longtime PS user here; I’ve spent at least several hundred hours tweaking the desktop standalone for sound design, analysis, and learning about mathematical window functions. Heck, I’ve even based a whole musical side project on PaulStretch. So imagine my extreme delight to see an excellent iOS port of the source code with a great UI and best of all FREE, just like the original. In a world full of awful weirdness and weird awfulness, things like this keep my spirits up.

Rediscover your old music by slowing it down in the app. It’s like finding an alien musical universe inside your tunes. Lots of great options for those who are into ambient or drone music. Many thanks to the original developer and the iOS developer for bringing this to us.
