Description

The ASTB (Aviation Selection Test Battery) is used by the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard to select candidates for pilot and flight officer training programs. A shorter version of the ASTB called the Officer Aptitude Rating (OAR) is used by the U.S. Navy to select candidates for Officer Candidate School (OCS). These exams are used by the organizations discussed above to determine a candidate's future success in military officer training programs. A candidate must do well on the respective exams to have a better chance of being offered a commissioning slot. Furthermore, the better you do on the exams, the more opportunities you will have in the naval services. In this APP, you will have access to: ∙ 73 Lessons with review sections ∙ The ability to track your progress through the syllabus ∙ Over 140 flashcards to help you memorize pertinent information faster. ∙ Create and edit custom flashcards ∙ Over 600 sample test questions ∙ Unlimited Practice Tests using the same question logic as the actual exam (This is the only product out there currently doing this) ∙ Simulators to help you prepare for the UAV Component, Terrain Identification Component, and the Stick and Throttle Components of the PBM Test Section (This is the only product that offers this) ∙ Review errors made on the practice tests with the correct answer and explanations for select questions ∙ View previous test results and assess your progress The OAR is comprised of 3 subtests, the Math Skills Test (MST), Reading Comprehension Test (RCT), and Mechanical Comprehension Test (MCT). The ASTB incorporates 7 subtests, including the 3 subtests in the OAR. In addition, it includes the Aviation and Nautical Information Test (ANIT), Naval Aviation Trait Facet Inventory (NAFTI), Performance Based Measures Battery (PBM), and the Biographical Inventory with Response Validation (BI-RV). This app has lessons covering all of the tests discussed above so that the app will prepare you for the ASTB or OAR. Furthermore, it is the only product with a simulator to help you prepare for the UAV Component, Terrain Identification Component, and the Stick and Throttle portions of the PBM. The ASTB and OAR are digital tests, and they are not linear in the way questions are asked. Both tests use adaptive processing, and the software will ask questions of greater or lesser difficulty if the test taker answered the question correctly or incorrectly, respectively. This app has practice tests for the MST, RCT, MCT, and ANIT that incorporate the same question logic and scoring, and you will be able to take an unlimited amount of practice tests on the subjects you need to work on. Furthermore, using the app's advanced scoring system, you will know whether or not you are ready to take the ASTB or OAR with the greatest accuracy. Once the app has been purchased, no cellular data or Wi-Fi is required to run the app, making it the ideal solution to use when studying for these tests on the go or deployed.

    The ASTB-E is very unique test for which preparing can seem totally overwhelming. However, this app provides you with the only two things you ultimately need to be successful: a blueprint for your academic preparation and an array of simulators for your neuromotor performance. Use the syllabus to guide your studies. Dive deeper into subjects with which you’re unfamiliar, and test yourself on those you think you already are familiar. The structure allows you to ensure you’re allocating your time effectively which, for a test with such a wide range of material, is crucial. Make the simulators part of your daily routine - they are incredibly well-designed and true to the real test. Practice makes perfect, and the app makes practice convenient. Having been through the process myself now, I can say that this app is truly invaluable - worth every penny. Furthermore, the app developer in incredibly responsive, helpful, and committed to the product. Don’t get bogged down or discouraged, preparing for the ASTB-E is straightforward (dare I say fun?) with the help of this app.

    I am a retired Naval Aviator. My generation took the AQT-FAR test for flight school aptitude. My oldest is a Midshipman NROTC 2/c and used this prep as one of his primary pillars of study. His exam score was a 8/9/8. Max is 9/9/9. An 8/9/8 is considered an incredible score. On an exam where you only can take it 3 times and last full score counts, to score that high on the first test is amazing and a testament to how well this prep works.   • Some Math Questions have incorrect answers and walkthroughs

    Wasn’t sure how to contact the developer so just figured I’d leave a review. First, the UAV portion and Terrain Identification are worth the app on its own, but if you’re refreshing for some basic math concepts it’s frustrating when the answers aren’t present and the explanation is incorrect. The question I encountered (and took pictures of) was (11²/4)/(5^5 x 2). The right answer wasn’t present and during the review section after the fact it was solving for 5² instead of 5^5, which was presented in the question.

    I used this app to study for the OAR. The only thing it really helped with was the mechanical comprehension. The math is all basic stuff and does not even begin to cover what is on the actual test. There are only test taking tips for reading comprehension. The OARs reading section dwells on military scenarios and instructions.

    I bought this app for $20 about a month ago for obvious reasons. I studied daily for several hours up until the test. I actually scored worse on the OAR section. The math in this guide is thorough but I didn’t see a single problem that was like the ones I had studied on here actually translate to the test. I will say this app did help tremendously with the UAV section and a minute amount of ANIT information. These sections are really the only ones that benefitted me. All in all I appreciate the effort put in by the developer(s). However, I do not know how people were improving their scores.

    I will keep it short and sweet. I took the ASTB once with no prep and scored a 4/3/3. Discourages I was told by a friend to download this app. After a month of studying I took the test again and scored an 8/8/8. I recommend this app to anyone hoping to boost their ASTB score it is perfectly designed and will get you the score you want.

    Absolutely one of the best programs you can get for ASTB preparation. The math , reading, and physics portions are all very thorough. The sim section is ESPECIALLY useful for the parking lot portion. The tracking portion for the joystick is useful for multitasking practice. The app clearly explainswhat is expected of you in each section and provides practice problems with how each problem is performed. It also categorizes each problem so you know where to look for extra practice problems. My only complaints about the app is that it locks orientation on the sim, and when you take the test it doesn’t detail the explanations for all problems relating to math and physics. My first attempt at the test was a 6,5,5 and a 52 on the OAR. With this app , along with some study books, I brought my score up to an 8,9,8 and a 57. This app ABSOLUTELY is worth every penny. I cannot thank the creator enough. The app is hardly worth just the 6 dollars (I think) I paid for it. It really is a game changer!

    Overall amazing app. Uav portion is worth the money alone. But some answers for are wrong. Misleading, especially to those trying to learn the subjects for the first time. Question with 14 books is supposed to be 40 not 54. And the uav portion, the building in the middle should be a tent, not a building. Also it would be helpful to put in audio for the uav as the real test talks to you while you do it. Would be great to do emergency scenario training too.

    So far the app looks great. Very comprehensive! Only complaint I can see is Eventually the PBM sim bogs down my phone and begins to crash the app as too many targets generate. Even when it seems like I should have a lock it doesn’t shoot but keeps adding targets at a rapid pace. Best score is 11 so far. The trick is to stay ahead of the generator curve.
