Description

*ATTENTION* Works with compatible Apple devices below. What Remains of Edith Finch is a collection of strange tales about a family in Washington state. As Edith, you’ll explore the colossal Finch house, searching for stories as she explores her family history and tries to figure out why she's the last one in her family left alive. Each story you find lets you experience the life of a new family member on the day of their death, with stories ranging from the distant past to the present day. The gameplay and tone of the stories are as varied as the Finches themselves. The only constants are that each is played from a first-person perspective and that each story ends with that family member's death. Ultimately, it's a game about what it feels like to be humbled and astonished by the vast and unknowable world around us. Created by Giant Sparrow, the team behind the first-person painting game The Unfinished Swan. iPhone - 7th generation and higher iPhone SE - 2nd generation iPad - 6th generation and higher iPad Air - 3rd generation and higher iPad mini - 5th generation and higher iPod touch - 7th generation iPad Pro - 2nd generation and higher

The mechanics of movement are deplorable. I spent long minutes literally stuck in one spot. Just tension and anxiety. The story and scenery could be something wonderful, but it’s so unnavigable. Spend your money elsewhere.

pressing a "walking" key like WASD causes a beep like you've pressed a wrong key. Holding the key down causes repeated wrong key beeps, rendering the game completely unplayable.

(I’m playing on iPhone 11 Pro Max) It’s a bit glitchy and it paused during the scene where I went up in the castle, but other than that amazing game! **light spoilers** I wish I would have found out what happened to Edith’s brother, or add something to the story other than her discovering the past, but I enjoyed it. This isn’t really a critique I loved the game!

A dark but magical adventure. So much visual depth. I don’t think I have ever been so touched by a video game before. Well worth the money.

This game is beautiful and I was so excited for the narrative. But there is something so frustrating about not getting to find out what happens in a mystery.

I am playing on my iPad 9th generation and the app keeps crashing. My iPad is fully updated and I have storage space, so it has to be a problem with the game in general. Please fix this.
  • wonderful game, frame rate isn’t great.

I understand optimization issues and the artistic choice to prioritize a cinematic aesthetic, but in the age of iPad Pro M2, I’m pretty sure you could at least offer the option to push 60 frames. I was expecting the same experience as on PC and i was slightly disappointed in the first 3 seconds of starting the game when it chugged 30. I’m sure —to most people— this is not a huge detraction, but I haven’t played a game at 30 frames for years. I have become accustomed to something a bit smoother; It is more important to me than resolution or fancy effects. That said, I like the controller support and visuals which are, honestly, almost on par with pc. Also, unlike many high fidelity AAA ports, it seems rather stable. kudos.
