Description

Bark Kids is the free child companion app for both Bark and Bark Jr. To use it, you’ll need to have an established Bark account and install Bark Kids on your child’s device. Here are the features this app enables: SCREEN TIME MANAGEMENT Families can set healthy time limits and create schedules for when their children’s devices can connect to the internet (through both cell service and Wi-Fi). WEB FILTERING Our web filter lets you select which websites your child can access on their devices. You can allow or block specific sites — or even whole categories like streaming services, online gaming, sexual content, and more. GPS-POWERED LOCATION TRACKING Bark’s robust location tracking enables you to track your child in real time on a map. You can even find out if they’re stationary, walking, biking, or moving in a car. CHECK-INS Check-Ins are an easy way for families to get peace of mind when their kids are out and about. Rather than sending a "Did you get there?" or "Where are you?" text, you can rely on a GPS-based location confirmation from your children to verify that they've safely arrived at their destinations. It can even give you step-by-step directions via Google Maps so you can meet them where they are if necessary. PERSONAL ACCOUNT CONNECTIONS The Bark Kids app allows kids to connect their own accounts to Bark’s monitoring service (not available with Bark Jr). By allowing them to connect directly to our monitoring service, they get more privacy without having to share their usernames or passwords. HOW BARK KIDS WORKS WITH THE BARK PARENT APP Download the Bark Parent companion app to manage your child’s entire digital world - Monitor texts, apps & social media - Create custom screen time schedules - Block websites & apps - Get insights into online activities - Track location WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING - "My wife and I LOVE Bark. We've had some tough but productive conversations with our 13-year-old son. It's proving to be extremely valuable." — Josh L. - “It’s just another set of protections we as parents give our kids for the digital environment (or as my 10-year-old calls it, a “cell phone seat belt”). My oldest is a 9th grader, and while I trust her, I’ve come to realize through the alerts that some of her friends aren’t truly her friends. It’s led to some amazing conversations about choosing friends wisely and recognizing toxic people. While she wasn’t for Bark at first, she’s since said she’s grateful that I saw those messages because it reaffirmed what she was feeling but didn’t know how to verbalize without sounding sensitive.” — Bark Parent - "Bark notified me that my young daughter had unknowingly revealed her phone number to strangers on Twitter. The fact that Bark notified me was impressive and led to an informative discussion with her the same day." — Jon B. - “Since Bark alerted us to the suicidal language used in the Google doc that was being used in a chat document with a friend, we have seen both a pediatrician and a licensed counselor. We are hopeful for a positive outcome. Thanks to Bark for letting us peek into our child’s mind!” — Bark Parent - “This app is a lifesaver! It has allowed us to catch so many “red flags” in the content my kids have accessed on their devices and in their interactions with friends and other people online that I wouldn’t have ever known about otherwise. The big difference between Bark and other “Parental Control” software is that Bark allows your kids to have so much more privacy. It doesn’t show you everything they do, but sends an instant alert regarding any activity that might be concerning. Highly recommended!” — Bark Parent With Bark, you can help keep your kids safe both online and in real life. Try it out for seven days absolutely free! • this app is terrible

it destroyed my relationship with my parents. i felt unsafe having this app downloaded and felt like i needed to sneak around more. the app was supposed to keep me safe but it put me in more danger, because when i was struggling with mental health i wouldn’t text anyone or reach out for help anymore because i didn’t want my parents to get notifications so i was in a bad situation. i just think this app violated privacy and even tho i don’t have it anymore, my relationship with my parents will forever be changed. it almost felt like they were a guard and i was a prisoner because i felt so unsafe and i felt like i couldn’t talk to people when i needed to.
  • Meow App Concept for bark:

Hey so I have very mixed feelings on this app since it really only reports the NEGATIVE stuff you’re doing on your device and makes your parents see all your flaws and mistakes via device. I get that you made this app to keep kids safe and protected from random creeps on the internet (which I love btw I feel so much better knowing that my parents got my back) but I hate when it just stalks your social media and gets you in trouble by your parents. It only happened like twice to me and I’ve had this app for awhile, but during one of them, my parents took away my phone for 5 MONTHS STRAIGHT AND I STILL HAVE YET TO GET IT BACK!!!! ):< Not only am I super paranoid all the time that my parents will see some iNaPprOpRiAtE stuff I’ve been doing PRIVATELY, but I’m also afraid that they’ll only see the negative stuff I’m doing, and not the positive. That’s where my idea comes in. I imagine a built in feature of the app being a separate section called Meow where instead of reporting all the BAD stuff you’ve been doing, It’ll report all the GOOD stuff. Like videos with positive messages, digital art pieces you’ve created (it only senses the NOT SUPER DARK ones), and videos you’ve created that are super good. I think this feature will save a LOT of kids a LOT of stress. And instead of your parents being disappointed in you, they’ll be proud of you instead. YOU HAVE MY COMPLETE PERMISSION TO USE THIS CONCEPT YOU DON’T HAVE TO GIVE ME CREDIT ALSO DON’T JUST COMMENT "Hi! Our mission is to help keep kids safer, while still giving them privacy by never showing all of their data to their parents! Parents are only alerted to potential concerns. We sincerely hope that you have a discussion with your parents about what your family agrees is an appropriate and safe use of technology and the internet. 💚 " LIKE USUALLY, PLEASE INSTEAD COMMET YOUR ACTUAL THOUGHTS ON THIS. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING.

By I HATE THIS SO MUCH AAAHHHHHHH
It doesn’t hurt to spend some time with your child to and teach them about the bad stuff. Parents think that they’re doing SO good with this app that lets them see everything they do. Even though I’m 13 I’m not allowed on Walmart, Amazon, eBay, dell.com, thingiverse, etc. I guess womp womp though because all this company cares about is money. Womp Womp waaaaaa

LEAVE US THE FREAK ALONE BARK WE ALL HATE YOU AND IM SURPRISED WHO HAVENT GOT THAT FACT YET!! WE ALL WANT THESE STUPID PARENT STALKING CONTROL APPS GONE FOREVER!! WE JUST WANT BE NORMAL KIDS AND BE LEFT ALONE!! WE ARE TEENAGERS AND IF WE MADE A MISTAKE TAKE PUR PHONE AWAY NOT BE STALKERS! WE WANT OUR PRIVACY AND WANT TO BE KIDS WHO CAN LEARN FROM THERE ACTIONS AND NOT BE STALKED. I am a 13 year old girl and I know this is to keep us safe but if we watch a video with 1 cuss word what’s gonna happen? We are going to turn into gangsters or sum? I can’t even have Snapchat at 13 years old and my friend who has the strictest parents ever has is. She also doesn’t have this horrible app! That’s not fair to me and to everybody. Take these parent control apps for because to parents this is the best thing ever bus to children this is just causing depression and making feel sad like our own parents can’t trust us over 1 mistake! I hate this app and my parents. This app also makes everything slow. Ever since I got this app nothing has been working. My apps won’t load and I can’t do anything. So I might as well not even use this thing anymore. I hate everything about this and I will do anything to stop this stupid app. - a 13 years old girl
  • From a Teen’s POV

My parents got this app for me when they got me a phone. I was like, oh cool I can check in with them when I need help. But this app restricted things like comments on YouTube videos and certain websites. It also went through my messages even when it didn’t give me the notification to be allowed to go through my messages. I felt untrusted and violated because I couldn’t have a conversation with my friends without it sending a notification to my mom when we were talking about something we didn’t like. I felt like I couldn’t have texting conversations with my friends because I knew that my parents were going to see them. And as a teen I say bad words, and my parents let me, so I say them to my friends and I never say slurs or cuss people out or anything like that. This app really made me question everything that I was doing because I couldn’t listens to my favorite songs, text things to my friends, or access certain features on apps. To all parents who are thinking about getting an app like this or this app PLEASE DON’T unless your child agrees and knows what they are sacrificing. I do not recommend this app.
  • I don’t like this app and my dad just put it on my phone today(From a girl preteens POV)

I was minding my business, playing my game on my phone when my dad comes in the room. From the angle he was at, it looked like I was texting someone, and when he asked me who, I said no one, because I wasn’t texting anyone. He thought I was lying, so he took my phone. He went thru all my contacts because he thought I was talking to a boy and he said “I didn’t tell you you could have a boyfriend.” When I didn’t even have one, nor will I have one in MIDDLE SCHOOL. He put this app on my phone and when I saw it I was truly angry. The thing where it says that the app isn’t gonna give your parents access to everything on your phone or invade your privacy is a lie, because if that was true, the app wouldn’t have been created in the first place.

  • Music reporting is really bad

    2
    By Dwight Schrute (:
I use Spotify to listen to music and I don’t listen to any explicit songs so I have tuned off explicit songs on my Spotify app. But the bark app goes much farther and reports a lot of songs that are not even explicit. If the song is bad it tells my parent which is good. But I don’t even know if it’s an explicit song until my parent asks why he/she got the report. Solution give the me the notification as well as the parent so I know if it’s a song that will get reported thanks.
