This application does not support UPS devices which are connected directly to the Mac via USB! UPS Power Monitor Features: • Monitor multiple network enabled UPS devices from one app • Shut down computers in local network when battery in UPS is running low** • Check device's battery charge, estimated run-time, current load, device state, battery's voltage and type* • Detailed info containing all data available for selected device • Notification when device switches between battery and A/C • Notification when UPS is fully charged • Launch the app on system start * Different UPS devices and NUT servers can expose different set of available data. ** Requires compatible power server running on target machines. Love it so far, but is it possible for me to be able to shut down the system that this app is installed on?
  • Very Happy - One Small Bug

I'm amazed that great apps like this exist at such a low price on the AppStore. This App is exactly what I needed to have a APC Smart UPS connected to my Synology NAS be able to shutdown all of the Macs on my network when my house looses power. Essentially, the Synology acts as a hub being connected by USB directly to the UPS. The Synology then sends all of the information around the network to all computers connected. This app makes all of the UPS data, which is surprisingly detailed avaialble in the menu bar of Mac OS. There is a small utility you have to install that allows the app to shutdown the computer in the event of power loss. It took 10 minutes to download the app and get everything set up, and it works flawlessly on multiple macs on my LAN. The bug i just noticed is that when the UPS is at 99%, it sometimes alternates between a charging state (trickle charge) and not charging. When ever the state of the UPS changes, it fires a notification on the mac. Which means that you get a constant barage of notifications saying the UPS is charging. There should be a threshold that the user can set that makes the app only show one notification if the charge level is in the range of a defined percentage and above. Dev please fix this and your app will be perfect. Well Done!

OMG thanks for fixing the crash - I specifiically ran into it (Looking at the trace, it looked like something related to Swift UI elements or something). Anyways, I'm very happy that you continue to support your app - this is specifically why I pay money for apps - to support app developers
  • Works great with my QNAP NAS

I'm giving it five stars because (1) it's the only graphical app out there that I can find and (2) it seems well-written and it looks like the development is going in a useful direction. I'm assuming, or rather hoping, that eventually there will be more Power Guard options besides 20% capacity remaining. My QNAP NAS has shutdown options based only on "time remaining" so it's hard to know how to set things up to ensure my Mac gets the shutdown signal before the NAS shuts itself down. For those with a QNAP, for "UPS Name" when setting up, use "qnapups". For some reason this is undocumented by QNAP. A quick DDG search found the solution. (Thanks snbforums.com!)

After spending a ton of time starting to research managing my UPS together with a Mac and a Synology, I stumbled upon this app in the store. I was super happy to find it and had it up and running in maybe ten minutes.

Although the instructions assume you know an IP from a BASH command, if you have a NAS, you should probably already know this stuff. Installation is reasonable and sure beats some of the alternatives. This software properlly shut down my iMac using commands from my NAS. It then monitored battery status, letting me know battery capacity with a cute battery indicator in the Menu Bar. Tech support answered in a couple of hours. Excellent.

Just got a UPS for my NAS boxes, and wanted a macOS app for monitoring a Remote UPS. This app works great on Catalina (or later) and does exactly what I needed to have it monitor thru my NAS (which is connected to my new APC UPS). Two stars off because it doesn't work on Mojave. First time coming across a 3rd party app that REQUIRES 10.15.x or later. So I can only use this on my new 16in MBP. I also have an iMac, older MBP, and an older MacMIni that must remain on Mojave due to critical 32bit apps I use. Since Mojave can run 64bit apps perfectly well, I do not understand why this app forces itself to only work under Catalina or later. Developer should probably issue something in the description that notes the reasons why 10.15 or later is required.
