Description

The YMPS Edu app is an app that can be used to help support the development of literacy, problem solving and digital skills across the primary phase. Take a look at the stories the children have created to promote the characters, “Ethical Ela,” “Enterprising Elin,” “Ambitious Aled,” and “Healthy Harri.” The children have been following #Everyonecancreate to help with ideas and solutions for their work in creating the content for their app. Follow the children’s progress with the app by reading their individual blogs, which documents the process used to make the app from start to finish! Read about the children behind this and see if you can write a description about yourself, your hobbies, likes and dislikes and your aspirations. Their blogs are also regularly updated, so check in to see how the children at YMPS are getting along and what they are up to. You can meet the team behind the app, the children responsible for all of the content within the app. Here’s another idea; Why don’t you create your own digital team in your school? Make a list of things you might like to do as part of the digital team and turn them into job descriptions. After all, it will be good practice for the future, you can think about what skills and aptitudes you will need for a career in the digital world! Have fun with the Augmented Reality in the app. Change the way children approach learning and witness the increased engagement and interactivity that AR brings. Use the four characters created by the children, to build your own scene and use them to tell your own story. Use the breathing tool to take away any anxieties you may have. Watch the colours and practice your deep breathing. Excellent for your Wellbeing. Take a look at the challenge cards from the four characters that the children have created. Try using them with your friends. For example, Enterprising Elin asks you to create a presentation about a topic of your choice and present to your friends. What a great challenge! Healthy Harri asks you to try to eat a vegetable you haven’t tried before. After all, we need to make sure we are all getting our five a day, another challenge set by Harri! Ethical Ela asks you to recycle eighteen items in a week. Try it and think about how we can do more to protect our planet. If you are an educator, looking for ideas to promote the new curriculum in Wales or you are simply interested in encouraging children to consider healthy lifestyles, work on their resilience, challenge them with ethical issues or share high aspirations for them, this app is for you. Augmented Reality Breathe a new life into learning by using the Augmented Reality in the app. Use the AR technology and the virtual examples to make learning engaging and fun and add gaming elements to support learning. Take a look at the real world environment and enhance it using the scenes and characters in the app. If you are an educator, looking to enhance the experience of your learners, take a look at the virtual content within the Augmented Reality section of the app and use it to inspire some creative writing. Help the children achieve better results through visualisation and full immersion in their scenarios. Ask the children to look at the drawings taken from a range of scenarios and create a scene which tells a story. Use a screenshot to take a photo of the scene. Use screen recording on the iPad to tell the story behind your scene. Code within the app written by the Y5 pupils using SwiftUI
