  • Slow response for volume etc

I’ve had Sonos for years and have been using this app. For the last 3 months or so, it has a serious problem with delayed responses. I notice it mostly in the volume control. It takes a very long time to respond. Same goes for changing the song selection. Sonos needs a serious update. This is unacceptable
  • It’s disappointing how…..

How many times I have to reconnect my device. I do it at least 3/4 times a week. I don’t understand why the app continues to remove it.
  • Great speakers but buggy app

The speakers are terrific but the app is wicked buggy. 50% of the time it works as well as you’d hope. The other 50% of the time you’re waiting for speakers to load, waiting for them to start playing, restarting the app to try to connect to the missing speakers, etc. All solvable problems but they haven’t bothered yet.

Overall, Sonos speakers boast an attractive design and decent sound quality. However, the user experience is hindered by persistent app issues such as slow responsiveness and connectivity problems. Despite initially believing in their advanced technology, after owning multiple speakers for a few years, the ongoing problems have been disappointing. I hope they read this reviews and work on them.
  • Needs a major update, too many bugs

I love my speakers but the weak link is the app. I’ve had too many issues with it over several years now that have never been fixed. Sound leveling between sources is all over the place. I have over 10 speakers and am constantly fighting with the app to level out sound. This should be consistent. It may be on volume 10 one day and 25 the next day. There is major lag between screens, especially recently played, loading new music and changing groups on speakers. I am constantly killing and restarting the app to have it display correctly. Speaker grouping is buggy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it forgets and reorders the speakers. Sometimes the speakers vanish. Sometimes it stops playing for no reason when on repeat. Spotify drops out way too much. No other music source does this and my settings are what is recommended by Sonos. I wired one speaker to make it the stable connection is the group (per Sonos support) but there is not a way to designate this as the hub in a group or home. I have to constantly regroup speakers to make sure this is the first speaker in the group. Really? Just make a setting for this Sonos! Or intelligently assign it as the central hub since you can detect it is wired. Search is terrible. It returns obscure results, not the most recent or popular music. I have to dig to find these. Sirius XM constantly gets errors that the source is not available. I have to kill and restart the app. I’ve had to unlink and relink my account several times to fix it. My Sonos Connect no longer automatically turns on my amp. I’ve reset, updated, etc and no luck. Someone on the Sonos Product team should be monitoring usage and issues with the app and providing incremental improvements. It is just way too buggy for the cost of the speakers for way too long. And yes, I’ve called support. I’ve sent diagnostics many times. I’ve reinstalled the app. No luck. All of these things happen on my wife’s app and also the phone I use to control my home automation. And previous phones. No less than 7 phones all experiencing the same issues. It’s the app and their system. Come on Sonos, I’ve paid thousands of dollars to you. Fix your bugs.
  • App is nearly completely useless

I’m convinced these 5 star reviews are fake this is terrible. We have a (paid) subscription for our office speaker music and the app is required to connect if you use Apple Music or SoundCloud for whatever reason. The music stops every minute or so, the response times for doing anything in the app are extremely slow, and it overall just barely plays music the way it’s supposed to. What’s laughable is that we pay to use this garbage too. Do anything possible to avoid using this service unless you enjoy being infuriated by a song you enjoy pausing every 90 seconds while trying to get work done.
  • Consistency

I have owned Sonos products for over 10 years and the ups and downs that I experience with system operations are impressive. Current issues: volume does not adjust in a timely manner, dropping unit connectivity, not getting consistent sound (in particular for Spotify), are just a handful of recent issues, that are annoying. My point is that years ago I had smoother operations where is today I seem to have more problems. I would think that overtime it should only get better and better, especially given the cost of the units.
