  • Awesome. Get rid of the red letter.

This app is pretty awesome, given the limited access that it has to content. I read a lot on web pages so it’s perfect for me. Not having a Select All option which you can then narrow from either top or bottom is kinda a pain, but w/e, not too bad to deal with. I don’t know why the words are at the very bottom. It’s a little bit annoying because there’s a bunch of empty space above that’s distracting, but that’s also ok I guess. Given everything I’ve said, I would give this app a five star if it weren’t for the red letter in the words. It’s torture. It’s super painful when you’re speed reading. I’ve tried other tools without red letters and they’re infinitely better. The red lettering has to go. It has to go. Even with the lack of Select All text option and the disorienting placement of the words, I’d rate it 5 stars. The red letter in each words makes this app 100% deserve a 1 star rating.

I used to use this app for reading technical documents online, now it will not work at all. I just use the JavaScript applet now with safari. Too bad I preferred it here

I can't get it to read ANY Apple news articles. The app says to select and copy to Spritz, but nothing happens and the only way to copy is to select and scroll to end of the article which is very error prone and time consuming. My subscription just auto-renewed so I am out $30 for this now worthless app.
  • Excellent idea, but needs a little work!

The concept of this app is amazing, and it’s main feature of reading at a high speed without moving your eyes works perfectly. The way it is executed is a little lacking though. Mainly because you have to copy all the text that you want to spritz, and that can get tiresome and annoying, not to mention difficult. I do like that even with the free version you can read at a decent speed for everyday use. The idea is one that I love, and I want to use the app all the time but it is missing some key features I feel it should have to improve the execution of the idea, such as... 1. A scanner for articles similar to Apple’s Reader View. If the app could scan an article or webpage for text that is not part of an ad or pop up and spritz it, that would add a level of autonomy to the app experience. 2. A file reader so you could share a pdf, text file, or note to the app so it can spritz it. This would make reading long notes or pdfs way easier since they can be so small. 3. A way to scan a document or paper using the phone’s camera so that the app can detect all the text and spritz it. This feature would be useful for people needed to read small print or an essay quickly. 4. I don’t know if this is possible, but it would be a seamless experience to use spritz if you could activate it from Safari. Imagine a small pop up that appears if you press a button in one of the corners of the screen that asks if you want to spritz the page. This would make using the features effortless and fantastic. 5. Last but not least, there should be a way to send a book from the Book app to spritz. Being able to read a whole book at fast speeds would be awesome. Since there is already a rewind button, you could reread a small section again if you didn’t get it the first time. If this becomes a feature, it would be very nice to be able to bookmark your progress in the book so you can continue reading the book where you left off later. Even if these features cannot be added, the app is nice and I enjoy using it and I hope it can continue to improve and gain more exposure. Keep up the good work!
  • Pointless to use

Spritzing text is great but the app is to troublesome to use. Specifically... (because I like this idea and I want this fixed so I can use it), it’s difficult to highlight a lot of text. If the text is off the screen it won’t scroll down to highlight it. It stops highlighting at the, “subscribe for $1” ribbon and doesn’t scroll down so doing it manually, in sections, takes longer than just reading it normally. Thus, this app is pointless. Using an iPhone 12 Mini, software version 14.2.1.
  • Decent for $20/yr

As mentioned in other reviews, works well for non-Java sites. There are competitors—albeit only browser extensions for chrome—that allow you to change the size of word chunks, which is an essential part of improving reading ability with one’s peripheral vision. If that feature can be added, this would be my go to speed reading app & extension.
  • Doesn’t seem to work with sites that require a login

I am attempting to use this with newscientist.com but it does not want to retain my login. Even after I (re)log in and can read an entire page in the built-in web browser, the spritz version of that same page only has the free preview. Bookmarking is lame. It forces me to add a name every time. Just use the page Title as a placeholder like every other web browser. I think this company needs to partner with amazon, pocket, etc instead of continuing to make mediocre reading “solutions” that just make getting to content so painful that it’s not worth spritzing. Once you spend the time to get to a page that the app can read properly, it’s great.
  • Can't create account

In-app registration does not work. There is no way to create an account in their site. Can't use the app without registering. Not very well thought out.
  • Make it easy to import articles or web pages

The app works, but it is a little tedious having to copy and paste text or URLs. To get me to buy a subscription it will need to have the ability to “Share” from a browser straight to the app. Even better integrate with Apps like Pocket which manage all my articles to read.
