  • AOPA is a direct marketing company

AOPA is simply a direct marketing company that has a captive audience of pilots. Their main purpose is selling pilot's personal information to third parties. 25-50% of the spam, junk mail, and unsolicited phone calls you get, is directly related to your AOPA membership. They don't care if you don't want to be barraged with junk mail, spam, and marketing calls. I was a member for 10 years and left due to their non-stop spamming and telemarketing calls from companies that AOPA sold my information to. Like the company founded by convicted felons (LifeLock) who purchased the AOPA membership list from AOPA in order to send junk mail, spam, and telemarketing calls.

The app is pretty useless unless you feed it location data.
  • Not a Finished App

The app is mostly a collection of links that opens their website. The airport map is useful and the search worked well for me once I downloaded the maps. To be clear I like AOPA and this app is new. I expect it will improve but for now it’s not quite there.
  • Not ready for public use

They either released this without testing or on accident. AOPA advertises the app in their magazine but very few things work. The airport directory seems cool, but pressing the search button does nothing. Just a blank map. AOPA needs to hire a real development team and test before releasing. It looks great but has zero functionality.

Entered my username and password, all I get is a message stating that my username and password are incorrect. I checked and double checked, and it is correct.

Very little works and most of what does has defects that will make a sane pilot crazy. It doesn’t recognize me as a member and won’t let me change an old home airport. Weather is wonky. Flight planning won’t let me on. There is no HOME selection from the tiny Menu hamburger. It simply needs to be pulled and beta tested before my beloved AOPA starts to look like a tone deaf gov’t agency.
  • Still broken

Thought I’d try it again…I love the idea. Always looking for new places to go and reasons to go fly. But your database of amenities is poor, shows no food within 200 miles of my location, not true. And anytime I try to check in, I just get either a too far, or oops something happened message. I realize its free, but free and doesn’t work isn’t compelling.

App has way to many Token Errors. Very frustrating to use. Mostly I have quit using. Just checked back again and guess what? Token Errors. AOPA App developers just need to fix this!
