AdGuard Pro — adblock&privacy

This app is the only adblocker to block most ads in apps, it has a nice element selector to block certain ads or content on websites. I used it to block the shorts tab on YouTube’s site. I used this app for probably four years, until today. I’ve finally had enough. After each update, something gets screwed up. This latest update, as of April 16 2024, this app stopped most of my phone from working. It stopped DuckDuckGo from searching, it stopped Reddit from loading, it stopped some of my phone games from accessing the internet, it wouldn’t let me send pictures to my coworkers or friends, I couldn’t refresh my emails, it wouldn’t allow me to check my bank account via bank’s app, I couldn’t make a credit card payment on my Apple Card with the standard wallet app, I couldn’t pay my Amazon card balance via its app, I was lucky YouTube’s site still worked. But it crippled the majority of my phone. I tried turning off some filters one by one, trying to narrow down the problem, and nothing worked. The only way my phone worked properly again was by turning off AdGuard completely. Turning off AdGuard to use my phone as normal defeats the purpose of using it in the first place, since I’m not gaining anything by it by disabling it. This is not the first time it’s happened, it will not be the last. I’ve emailed customer service, they direct me to a page to troubleshoot, I fill out the form for each problem I have and experienced. But I’ve just had enough of this. If I’m having this much trouble with AdGuard, and I have to turn it off to fix those problems, I might as well not use it at all. Matter of fact I’m not using it when it’s turned off. I uninstalled it earlier this morning and paid for the premium version of 1Blocker, which was around $40. So far it’s been working about the same as AdGuard, without the flaws. The only bad thing about it though is it isn’t blocking ads in my apps like phone games. But at least the rest of my phone is working like normal, unlike with AdGuard. Don’t buy this app unless you wanna play Russian roulette with whether or not your phone will work with it turned on. I give up on AdGuard

I’ve been using this app on my iPhone’s for a number of years. Up until a couple of months ago, this app was perfect. Not sure what has happened, but the DNS protection is constantly turning off. I have to go in and turn it back on after which it works perfectly. Until the next time… Not good.

App is broken after recent update.

Most recent update won't work with a few apps including my banking app. Tried white listing any blocked connections but at least 3 apps won't load while AdGuard is on. Hopefully it's fixed soon.

The latest version released on 4/13 broke DNS blocking! Now VPN is not activated and none of the ads are blocked. Whatever enhancements were supposed to take place to stop DNS leaks have rendered the app useless!

Newsletter site: Your YouTube watch history is not safe Gets blocked in Brave as being unsafe. Says sites will be able to access your history. But when I tell it to proceed anyway it gives me a bad error message 404 saying that the website doesn’t exist.

Security is missing out it back on

I can’t remember when I bought a permanent sub to this app, but it was a long time ago. Over time I started noticing more and more ads popping up. Websites where I knew ads were blocked were suddenly showing ads again. No amount of refreshing or app updates fixed it. I never figured out how to manually block ads either. I’ve tried other ad blockers and found the same issue, so maybe it’s a widespread problem. In any case, I deleted the app and am using the Brave browser now. It’s not perfect but it’s blocking the ads that Adguard Pro wouldn’t.

YouTube always lags and takes forever to load videos now. It lags loading the page, playing the video and even making the video fullscreen. Thought I was paying $10 to avoid those issues!

It’s amazing how well this works. I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen an advertisement lol.
