Description

This app is a pretty scientific experiment in deep photo editing. At RNI we wanted to make our photos look more special with less effort and more fun. So we created RNI Flashback — an app that works like film not like an app. Using Flashback is simple. You just press the button and it generates editing options for you. And then you choose the best one. Because you’re the boss. Unlike other apps, RNI Flashback has no pre-defined filters. Instead it mixes virtual 'chemicals' and creates a unique look every time you press the button. This transforms digital medium making it more true to life and more refreshing. Flashback is created for everyone. But professional photographers and aficionados familiar with shooting film will especially love it. Because Flashback works more like photographic film rather than like digital software. Unlike any other existing software, Flashback uses real film data and simulates the response of real film layers by light when processing digital colours. This results in a completely unique output which can't be achieved in traditional image editors with conventional tools. Some of its looks can be weird, some can render skintones too red. But some will be just absolutely fabulous, making for film-like colour harmony and colour separation, far beyond what’s achievable in any other piece of software you have ever tried. Experience RNI Flashback now. Bring custom artistic flair into your photos and never get bored again. -- #RNIFlashback Tag your photos with #RNIFlashback for a chance to get featured in RNI’s official newsletter, blog and Instagram @reallyniceimages. Love this app. I wish it could be integrated in my Lightroom workflow but a desktop version isn’t available and not sure if it can be integrated with Lr Mobile. Also, some looks are amazing but they are generated once and cannot be saved for application on another photo for a consistent look across a photo shoot. Lack of a saturation slider is an issue. Also the white interface is incredibly straining on the eye, it should be dark like Colibri.

I downloaded on my iphone 11 pro max, and find that i am unable to edit the filters as advertised. I downloaded on my ipad thinking it's just my phone but even worse, the image is so small and had so much white space between the pic and the button. idk, i was excited to use because of the good reviews but oh well.
  • Nice filters but…

It would be nice to have the camera built into the app. Just snap a picture and apply the random filter. Other then that it adds some nice filters to the snapshots.

Recently revisited this click-for-random-filter app. Also purchased RNI Colibri. It's fun to see what retro filter will be applied. It can create some beauties!

I would like to know more about why the developer finds it necessary to collect linked user content (defined by Apple as: User Content: Emails or Text Messages Photos or Videos Audio Data Gameplay Content Browsing History Search History Other user content: Such as a list of contacts in the user's phone, address book, or social graph Including subject line, sender, recipients, and contents of the email or message The user's photos or videos The user's voice or sound recordings Any other user-generated content ) Aside from that it is a unique and amusing product that gets one away from the sameyness that is the bane of things digital.

This app is not what I thought it would be. Requesting a refund as soon as I can.

It’s a good app that does most of the work for you but it lacks support for some raw files. I also think it needs the ability to export some image created in this app to RNI film app, this will allow you to further develop your image.. One major thing it lacks is the ability to save a preset and apply it to other photos (adding favorites do not persist between images).

Not saving photos to camera roll
  • Would love to see custom presets

While I assume this defeats the purpose of how this particular app is supposed to work as it’s more intended to be “unpredictable” and offer some sort of realistic exaggeration of actual film (which I love!)... I really wish just one thing for this app: that it allowed you to index your favorite looks for later. The heart feature is invaluable, I use it every time. But after rendering and moving onto the next photo, those saved hearts are long gone. Being able to create your own custom filters after randomly generating them would be amazing. Devs - please consider this option!! 2020 Update: Still loving the app and using it every day, still wishing it had the option to save custom presets/filters. Sometimes this app will make the most beautiful amazing filter. Sad part is you’ll never see it again. It’s such a useful piece of software, it really just needs custom presets and it’s golden 👌🏻 June 2020 Update: App is getting stuck every time on render now and will just keep spinning the clock and never save to camera roll. Seems to be a bug. Already tried removing/reinstalling and rebooting device to no avail. ******** EDIT: I’ve discovered that the photo that crashed Flashback is burst. This is my fault obviously as I didn’t realize I was attempting to load a burst for editing, but be forewarned that if you do load a burst it will not render at the end FYI. Problem solved however.
