  • The best version of a tactical classic

This is one of my absolute favorite games. The iPad version of Final Fantasy Tactics is a further enhanced version of an updated edition of the seminal strategy classic. It sports sharper redrawn graphics, a fully rotatable camera and fixes the atrocious frame rate issue from the PSP versionIf you're looking for a strategy title with an epic, rich story, deep gameplay, and a tightly written script, you can do no better than this.
  • Lazy Port

The core game might be a classic, but this is a lazy port with terrible controls. I regret spending money on it when other developers have put more energy into making modern tactical RPG's. It hasn't aged well and doesn't translate to a touch screen interface well at all.
  • This game is not touch screen friendly, buy the PSP version

I only gave this 3 stars because this is an awesome game.. on any other system besides IOS. This version deserves ZERO STARS. Whoever packaged this game to sell in its present state was out for a quick buck. While touching the screen does something; 9 times out of 10 it performs a different action than the one intended. This game is in no shape, way or form enjoyable on the iPad or iPhone unless you want to buy a controller. Although I haven't tested this out, so I wish you luck on that one. To get out of a menu you have to click it like 5-10 times. It's like a having a 3 year old child trying to grab your iPad and take it while trying to play this game. One mistake could mean you have to spend another 15-20min replaying a level again. Disappointing.

This and Tactics Ogre are among the best tactical role playing games I have ever played. Other then the fact that touch based controls are a pain (I would love Bluetooth controller support) this is a must have for fans of the genre.

Thanks Square Enix for updating to 64bit encoding. On top of that thank you for not making us pay for the upgrade. I'm happy that once updated to iOS 11 on September 19th, this game won't disappear into obscurity.

Love Final Fantasy tactics! I thought this game was a very good port on iPad, but there were some issues in terms of battling.
  • Great game, LAZY port

The game itself is as great as I remember, unfortunately the app itself is riddled with bugs and lack of consideration. - Crashes frequently - iCloud saving doesn't work - Sometimes it's literally not possible to select specific tiles - The navigation and UX was not optimized for touch - While in a battle, the touchable area of the change viewing arrows extends across the entire screen, which is super annoying - While in a battle there is are visual artifacts around the character info panels that pop up and an invisible area that nothing can be touch-selected underneath. At the end of the day, I'm still playing it because I bought it and it's a great game, but I'm constantly restarting it and fumbling with controls 20 hrs into the game. If I had known how bad the controls are, I wouldn't have paid $15 for it. As an app, game aside, I can only rate this 2 stars. Also, this is all happening on my 2017 12.9 inch iPad Pro.
  • Worst port I've ever seen

The game is mediocre and the port is awful. The controls don't work at all. Sometimes it takes several minutes to configure the viewpoint into the "sweet spot" where you can actually select the tile you want. Honestly, 90% of your time in combat is spent just wrestling with the controls. If you want a tactical rpg on ipad try x-com instead. It's both a better game and a MUCH better port.
