Reviews

  • One of my top favorite apps!

I almost never leave reviews, but I seriously LOVE this app. It’s simplicity makes it approachable, and my productivity is high while my cognitive load and stress is way more in check. As a busy mom of two, I think this is one of my most favorite apps ever for helping me stay organized and not having a million things floating around in my head!
  • Repeating tasks

I’d give Things five stars if they would EVER fix the rigid repeating task rule that refuses to allow you to complete a repeating task early. It’s been broken for years and years.
  • Great app. Feels like it was made by Apple.

Works wonderfully. I’ve never encountered a bug in either this or the desktop app. I use them together to organize all of my college work and I don’t know how I would remember anything without them. In particular, I like how quickly new tasks can be added. On my Mac I can just press a hotkey to create a new task on the fly, from within any app. This lets me capture tasks as quickly and seamlessly as possible before I forget about them. Things has a good balance between functionality and simplicity. I’m prone to spending too much time tinkering with task tracking apps, to the point where just managing tasks becomes a task in itself. The simplicity of Things helps prevent this and thereby reduces the amount of maintenance required. The easier the system is to maintain, the more likely I am to stick to it. It takes a little reorienting to start thinking about tasks in a way that harmonizes with Things, but once you get the hang of it, it’s very powerful. It’s nice to not have anything slip through the cracks.
  • Reminder Badge Fatigue - New System Needed

Updated: I believe the badge system has been useful, but we now need a persistent system to help keep us on track. Things is a great resource, but Intend to forget about what’s due or get distracted and don’t get back to a task that is due at a certain time. I’d like to see Things add a persistence reminder with a very loud tone that goes off every 1, 5, or 10 mins. This is a system found in the “Due” app, but I prefer Things’ interface. I would drop Due if Things added this feature of persistent reminders. Old Feedback: I'm super excited to see individual time alerts. The UI is much more refined and concise with internal menus and shortcuts, such as the new drag + add button. I've waited a very long time for this upgrade, but I fear it could have come much earlier; however, the developers needed an all new feel to re-justify the price tag. -1 Star for the last point made.
  • Data Security and Encryption Failure

    By Rgreenberg
I have been with Things since the beginning (7 years?). On three occasions over the last two years I have asked whether Things will modify their data security system to allow for encryption that cannot be decoded by its employees. The response has been “in the future”. Unfortunately the confidential data and metadata that is in my Things database is too important for me to leave it to Cultured Code’s Human Resources policies that limit what people have access to my data. I can no longer wait for the fix. I am today switching to OmniFocus which has full no-knowledge data encryption at rest as part of its platform. I do not like the OmniFocus UI as much as I like Things. However data security is more important to me.

This honestly has made me more productive. $9.99 is nothing compared to how much better I am at managing my time with this.

Not too much, not too little, just what you need to keep in track of your life. This has been ine of the best purchase apps to keep my life in check and not forget things. Truly efficient in terms of moving things around when plans change. Really recommend it to people that just want to organize their lifes without too many features added to the app.
  • This app literally changed my life

As someone who struggles with adhd, I often find it hard to do the things I need to do. Showering, brushing my teeth, feeding my animals, and cleaning around the house are just a few of the necessary tasks that feel like insurmountable challenges to my poor dopamine deprived brain. I’ve long known the benefits of breaking big tasks and projects down into manageable steps with a to-do list, but I thought to myself… what if I just put literally everything on a to-do list? So, using this app (and it’s MacOS counterpart) that’s exactly what I did, and it has changed my life. I know exactly what I have to do in a day (from big tasks like a whole house deep clean down to little things like eating breakfast and taking a shower in the morning) and my goblin brain desire to check off the little boxes drives me to get everything done as quickly as I can. I’ve never been more productive- I’ve never felt like this much of a functioning adult, even- and it’s all thanks to this app. As for the app itself, I think it’s really good. Being able to set up repeating tasks is really nice for the mundane things I have to do all the time, being able to sort things into different projects and areas helps me stay organized, and things like headers and checklists within tasks help me break bigger tasks into something more manageable. It’s got everything I need. The fact that it’s not subscription based is a huge plus, too. I highly recommend this app 👍

  • Got it because of Vision Pro support - use it everywhere

I didn’t know that I needed a new task manager. I was using an iPhone app. When I saw the VisionPro support and reviews for Things I gave it a shot. I really like the clean interface but I love that I have my tasks with me everyone on Macs, iPads, phone and VisionPro. It’s not a plan if you don’t have it with you.
