  • Incredible

Such attention to detail and constant support and updates with new features in this app. The dedication to the podcast listening experience is unparalleled. Easily the best option out there by far!
  • It’s alright, but flawed. And HATE subscriptions

    By Dude0u812
Have used for a couple months, loved the stock iOS player but Apple decided to destroy its functionality just as they have their music player years ago. Found Overcast recommended as an alternative. Like the ability to voice boost, cut silences and adjust speed. I just use the voice boost. It’s probably on Apple, but most of the time I can’t resume playing a podcast if I open a game or video or something else that temporarily hijacks the sound. Have to reopen Overcast and start it up again. The controls aren’t ideally placed. The layout is okay, but not great. Wish the buttons and podcasts were optimized for easy and clear operation. The color scheme is somewhat ugly, I’d prefer big high-contrast player buttons. I might be driving and have to muck around restarting podcasts after a call, as it often defaults sound to the Apple Music player. As for the subscription, nope. I’d give them a fixed $10 for removing the ads and doing basic maintenance and upgrades, but avoiding any ongoing commitment for any apps that wants an ongoing payment. I have a few developers I’d like to support but it adds up to hundreds a year in subscriptions and it’s easier to avoid the app rather than tying my data into an ongoing dependency on payments. I’m hoping by iOS 14 or 15 Apple might finally repair their FUBAR Podcast player. Though I could be wrong. So this app has temporarily resolved the problem of the iOS default podcast deleting my saved podcasts, some of which are only available for a day or so and thus lost forever. If the developer wants to get more income I’m happy to pay $5-10 ONCE to remove ads and maybe provide a little more functionality, but pass on the subscription.
  • Marking Episodes as ”Listened”

    By BreeFluff
I'm not sure how hard it would he to add that feature. I came over from another app (because it stopped getting uploads from my favorite podcast I guess?) and I really love everything about this app but I wish I could mark all the episodes I already listened to.
  • Good but no support

    By Neurobashing
It is far better than the default Podcast app, but like Apples offering there is 0 support. Got a problem? Sorry, Marco doesn’t have time for that. For example, I’ve been trying to get it to sync a podcast to my watch. For a year. Not one byte has ever arrived. Core functionality works, and well. One nitpick: the “directory” can lag a few days behind Apples main index.
  • Switched from Downcast

    By Volalum
I was recently a Downcast user but it’s been having more and more issues. Within a couple of days had Overcast completely setup and love the extra functionality (smart speed, Apple Watch sync) and how much more stable it is. Ability to listen to synced podcast on web browser is a nice plus!
  • Great podcast app

I love being able to create playlists. The playback is smooth and let’s you have automatic smart speed.

Only first season so far, but I love it
  • 4 stars for now, until I further explore

Using Apple’s player for minutes today caused stress and frustration, couldn’t easily find recently listened to podcast or get library to sort more intuitively. Namely, couldn’t figure out how to (again or easily) have player controls while scrolling podcast details (required when learning a language where one needs to view text). Have spent just minutes with this player, happy, can easily play, swipe to right of main podcast graphic, have same controls and scroll text. Nice interface.
  • Best Podcast App since 2014!

    By Big Al Knine
I installed Overcast August of 2014 after hearing a few of my friends mentioned it was their favorite. I was very happy with the app I was using at the time, so I was skeptical that I would switch. But the interface, the audio quality while manipulating playback speed, and the ability of just removing long silent pauses, without increasing speed, won me over. Add to that the non intrusive ads and you have a winner. I have tried them all, there are only 2 podcasting apps worth your time, and Overcasts come out on top.
