  • Worse over Time and become dangerous

    Google maps not only becomes worse become dangerous as well. Hey google what you are doing? Flaw is clearly visible when on express lanes combined with normal lanes. Suggest dangerous lane changes which make zero sense. Sometimes suggest dangerous turn with heavy traffic, usually sit and wait for 10 minutes until someone gives way for you. Apple Maps is way better as a software.

    This app will be its own demise. Recently it promotes slower routes, has bugs where alternate routes don’t show time differences while moving, gives poor directions, and covers up the route data if a sign is too large. Also, an ETA is not “similar” if it is objectively longer.

    I was late for a delivery today because the map was wrong. It kept saying my location was closer than it actually was and it had me driving in the wrong direction. We have to use Google Maps at work and this nearly cost me my job.

    App recently moved timeline storage to phone. Since this time, I’m unable to look at my past timeline. It will not respond when I select arrows or dates, then eventually glitch and return to today once it does load.

    This problem has not gone away. As an iOS developer, I know when I see a bug. There is a 5-10 second freeze on first usage of the text input. And it’s very annoying. I’d expect the engineers and QA at Google to catch this.

    Issues: When arriving at destination, I exit navigation view to switch to satellite view (to see where is my destination parking, entrance etc) , then back to navigation. It automatically switches to walking instead of continuing driving which is inconvenient. Also on top bar there are bookmark home and work buttons that keep switching places and disappearing, which is also super inconvenient. Other navigation apps have the option to switch to UK style of miles and yards instead of miles and feet, google maps doesn’t. It’s inconvenient for someone who is used to meters and yards. The recent history shows random addresses from history and not the actual last couple of addresses. Which is inconvenient.

    I often use google maps for ease of use as well as checking opening times for restaurants and stores, which 50% of the time end up being inaccurate. For walking and driving it works a good amount of the time, but it is the most unreliable source of information for public transportation such as buses and trains. I often will have to switch to Moovit it after missing a bus multiple times because google maps lied about when the line would be arriving. It is also inaccurate for estimating train and bus times. Overall a subpar app.
