  • What happened to viewing past mediation

    So I love headspace I generally do the daily start your day meditations and I remember that you could look and see what the mantra (or saying whatever you call it)was for each pass meditation. my coworker and I were talking and we use Headspace through Starbucks we love it but we found it odd that you can’t look at past meditations and like that little saying on what it was about I really miss that feature if you brought it back I would honestly give this app five stars because it’s amazing.

    This app can’t help me because I won’t pay subscription… I really needed something FREE to help with my anger, anxiety, sleep, etc . Everything I try to listen to is locked… EVERYTHING. i try meditation locked. Sleep, locked. I’m not paying for those qualities. I just want to get in the right “headspace” without having to pay. This was such a hassle and waste of time. They just want your money… :(

    I adore this app. It’s a wonderful prebiotic; a consolidated therapy resource for easing everyday stress and even SOS panic moments. They say to take probiotics everyday to keep the body and gut healthy. Though not everybody can afford traditional therapy (your ‘probiotics’), this app acts like a prebiotic that compliments your current therapy, or can be a nutritional supplement to treat your mental health long-term. Everything from workouts, yoga classes for situations and moods, meditations, topic specific courses, sleep guidance and podcasts, this lil app is a house for health. I’ve benefited by being able to handle stress, anxiety and general emotions so much more productively rather than reactively. This app has helped me build a healthy daily routine to gently heal stress and feel more open, happy and free!

    Revised: On organization and ease of use, this app was easier and more efficient at the beginning of 2022; with each update, it becomes chaotic. It takes more scrolling and links to get to previous meditations. Zero organization skill exists here. It’s junky. This app should be the best, due to the price. Activity History is still not fixed properly; meditation recents do not match Activity History. Timeline was better. If you open some of the most recently added tabs, what’s inside, doesn’t seem to match. Material that reflects corporate culture and corporate image, and Star Wars, is listed first, rather than, a starting point, a returning point. This agenda gets shoved in our face, rather than into a new folder. Marketing wants to disrupt our flow, or they would just file it, in new. I had been using the app constantly for about an hour per day, average; since all of the software updates, my meditation was dwindled. I have started to explore elsewhere. Plum Village app functions better, new material is listed in a new link, for those who are looking. When this app opens, it’s hard to find Andy Puddicombe. When I look at Plum Village, Thich is still present and not hidden. I first saw Headspace on Netflix; I was sold in a few minutes. Andy Puddicombe was not in my radar, until the show premiered. I wish I had taken the time to search for Headspace back then. The Netflix series, Guide to Meditation, was beautifully created; I was in awe of the innovative visualizations; I give the team the highest recommendations for this series. I highly applaud Netflix for talking the risk to visually tackle this topic. I loved the Netflix imagery and felt instantly at ease with Andy, as my guide. I accepted this figurative animation as my mentor; I never though about his race or gender; it was not an issue with the Interactive Headspace, nor was it an issue in Guide to Sleep. The overall format was streamlined and easy to use. On Headspace, Netflix: Bravo!!! I have watched Andy Puddicombe’s TedTalk, and have read his book. I’ve listened to online videos of his thoughts, as well. I do like the pace and format of his meditation style; he is easy to understand, and speaks clearly in English. Andy is both straightforward and empathetic, compassionate and disciplined; he comprehends difficult emotions and is articulate. Andy has a natural gift for training, to communicate, and, for having patience. He understands this amazing balance between the mind and body. It’s a tightrope act and following him, as a guide, helps me to stay on focus. The ability to speak this see-saw, between thinking and feeling, between the mind and body, between opposing forces, is a gift. His gift. Meditation course progress is not a priority to this app. Tracking numeric value is the priority. Is it mindful to be measuring, all the time? Why measure the negative emotions? Are we not experiencing the positive? Is the goal the negative or the positive? Why should we scroll past this to begin?? Is it mindful to scroll? This app does contain incredible guided meditations, why must we hunt for it? Only 1 new link was added in 2022, that could be helpful: a link to the podcast. (Have not listened). The rest of the new tabs are only chaos and disorder, it pulls up jumbled mess. Aren’t we trying to get rid of distractions? Since I do think so highly of Andy, it’s hard for me to rate the app so low; this rating is for the overall use of this app. Andy’s meditations are a 10+, on a scale of 1-5. I can recommend the Netflix series or Andy’s books, but not this app. The board is going in the wrong direction; it’s trying to improve what was not broken. I do think previous editions of this app had a different intention and overall appearance. I expect it was similar to the interactive Netflix app. I do think this app was better a year ago, before Headspace merged with Ginger, before Andy and Rich stepped away. I wish I knew explored the Headspace app 3 years ago.

    In a dark spot I found this app and Andy’s calm and understanding voice helped me realize the mind is vast and full of possibility. Meditate daily now. It’s worth every penny.
