  • Love The Books, Dislike The App

    I just put the latest update in. My iPod is now navigating the app in a painfully slow way when toggling between tabs and sometimes in the player itself. It is alternately sluggish, then crazily fast, if I go between books and pages in my library, making finding a given book very difficult and inefficient. I have also reported a bug involving the app not saving display and sort settings, such as which titles are showing and how they are arranged, and I see that while this has never been fixed, navigation is now erratic. Just before I updated, there were no such problems, and restarting my iPod entirely has not fixed anything. Nothing else on this device is so slow right now. I love Audible. I truly do and think I always will, but to be very blunt, this app needs to be fixed and urgently. I would downgrade my version if I could in a heartbeat.

    Great advice; could have been half as long. This book offers excellent advice to begin your day every day in the healthiest way possible, helping people be their best selves. Really wonderful! My critique: the book seemed to be quite a bit longer than was necessary. The intro basically told the whole story. The SAVERS chapter was good for detail, but most of the other chapters felt like he was reiterating with too much detail. The 95% reality check was way too long and overused the term “mediocrity”—I wish I had skipped the vast majority of that chapter.

    This book of stories is marvelous! I am not usually a short story reader but Ann Patchett said she loved it and as I love Ann Patchett I began Lilly King’s stories! I was so captivated by the first story I just kept going reading one delicious story a day to savior each separately. They are all very different but all have an element of surprise in their twists and turns! What King has accomplished here is remarkable and I am longing for more!

    When will there be even basic access with Siri happening? Otherwise the app is fine, but lots of difficult to navigate and useless screens.

  • No sorting options? Why?

    Why do I keep seeing the SAME freaking recommended titles in Plus? I don’t want to listen to them - why can’t I click “not interested”!? Especially smut. NO! There’s no way to sort the Plus listings - just doom scrolling ALL the books in 1 category. Why can’t I see the new ones or highest rated in order? I can’t tap on a authors name and see all their books, or books in a series. Why? Do you not want me to see other titles by authors I like? Why doesn’t the “included” tag appear all the time? Why do you all make it so hard to find books! It should be the easiest thing to do. Fire the person who made these decisions. I hate everything about this app.

  • Customer service

    I love the app and their service, but my issue is with the customer service. My audible account is linked through my mother’s Amazon prime account because I wanted to get a promo during sign up. Because of this, every couple of months, audible will randomly charge whatever saved card they want instead of the default payment method that is selected on the audible account. We have to call every time to get them to issue a refund. The most recent time, the service rep told me there was no default card selected (when I can see clearly on my end that there is), and he told me to delete all other cards off the audible account to prevent this from happening again. I expressed my concern about the potential for this to also delete all these payment methods off the Amazon account as well, and he assured me that it would affect the audible account only, not the Amazon one. Well, he lied. All cards have also been deleted off my mothers Amazon account which is ridiculous considering I deleted them off audible’s site, not Amazon’s. There’s no reason the accounts should be linked this closely when the Amazon account was only used for a promo, and I’m tired of audible charging whatever card they feel like because they’ll almost always charge multiple cards as if we have multiple audible subscriptions when we don’t.
  • Very poor quality podcast app

    I only downloaded this app for a specific podcast that wasn’t streamed on other podcast apps. 1) it requires not just a login (what?), it requires an Amazon account. 2) the homepage is mostly ads. 3) I paused the first episode I listened to 15 minutes in. When I tried to play again, it wouldn’t work. It would only let me start new episodes but would not play episodes in progress. There are waaaaaaay better podcast (Pocket) apps (cast) that don’t require 3rd party accounts, aren’t advertising for your credit card info, and actually play podcasts.
