Description

Tap images. Type words. Speak. Proloquo2Go is an easy to use communication app for people who cannot speak or need help being understood. Featuring natural sounding voices, including real children’s voices, Proloquo2Go is a simple yet powerful AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) tool. The app is fully customizable and can be utilized to build language skills and grow with a person’s communication, supporting both beginning and advanced communicators. Parents, therapists, teachers and users around the world recognize Proloquo2Go as the gold standard in AAC solutions. The app is used by people with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Angelman syndrome, and others with speech difficulties. The app is available in English, Spanish, French, and Dutch and supports bilingual use, so you can switch languages on the fly. Proloquo2Go in action: Learn and grow Studies show that just 200-400 words make up 80% of what we say. Known as core words, they act as the basis of Proloquo2Go’s research-based Crescendo™ vocabulary. Users can grow from single words to full sentences in the same app. Crescendo puts core words in consistent locations for easy access and motor-planning. The vocabulary works with AAC best practices like modeling (where you use an AAC system to talk with the user) to develop language skills. Crescendo offers no limit on language development with a 10,000+ fringe word vocabulary and customizable vocabulary levels. Finally, with Progressive Language, words are gradually revealed step-by-step, helping users learn words and their location as their communication expands. Easy editing Customizing Proloquo2Go is a breeze! Quickly and easily add new words. Use the app’s built-in library of 25,000 symbols or use your own photos by taking pictures within the app or selecting them from your photo library. For users with fine-motor challenges and vision impairments, Proloquo2Go offers options like 23 pre-programmed grid sizes and accessibility settings which support switch scanning and Apple’s VoiceOver screen reader. Everything from appearance to access is customizable so you can make it your own. Type and speak Besides tapping images, Proloquo2Go also lets you type what you want to say. The app includes a Grid Keyboard arranged alphabetically for people learning to type. For more experienced typists, Proloquo2Go includes a Typing View with a QWERTY keyboard and word prediction that offers suggestions based on what you are typing. Hello! ¡Hola! Bonjour! Hallo! Proloquo2Go lets you select a language and region for the Crescendo vocabulary. Two languages can be used at the same time, allowing seamless bilingual speech. Over 100 included downloadable natural-sounding adult and children’s voices rounds out your choices to use the app your way. A helping hand AssistiveWare is here for you every step of the way. Wish Special Ed Teachers would use Proloquo2Go and learn how to engage the entire life skills classroom. Over 10 years ago I forced my child’s school to buy an iPad and Proloquo2Go app. Sadly none of the teachers were made to learn how to use it…despite my request. Sadly I didn’t force all into IEP. Lesson to all others, make sure Proloquo2Go is in IEP and make teachers and paras learn how to use it.
  • A great app, but not enough space to edit

I believe that this is a great app, however there’s much to be improved on. For example, the feature that lets you customize buttons could be drastically enhanced. While creating a button, I wish that I could see the whole text while I type instead of the single line. It is difficult to edit once the text is placed. Also, you could provide more grid options so it does not look to cluttered.

My son is now seventeen and he started using this app in Kindergarten when he didn’t speak yet. His speech is still poor but he can write what he wants now if no one understands him. When he was small though this app saved him frustration and our peace of mind to be able to help him with what he was wanting. LOVE THIS APP!!!!!!

Hello! I’m Abby, the user of Proloquo2Go. All I can say is that this has been an amazing experience. I‘ve only recently found out that I may need AAC (as I’m autistic and am non-speaking in some scenarios). I love my talker and I’m excited to see more in it!

Great for my minimally verbal daughter. One thing: I wish there was a setting to put a slight pause between words as it speaks the sentence. I’ve slowed down the speed of the individual words, which helps a lot, but a slight pause between each word in a sentence would really be super helpful with my daughter.
  • Difficult to program

My son has been using this app for communication for many years since it came out. His school used it so I found the $300.00 for the app on my home devises. I spent a whole night trying to program my son’s device to mimic the way school had it set up. I stayed up through the night - since that was the only time I had quiet time to concentrate ,since I have three son’s with special needs. I FINALLY figured out how to program it and then with a touch of a button it was All ERASED! I cried ! I tried to get in touch with the Proloquo2Go makers but no response. We DO use the app with my son, because he is used to using it but I can’t take advantage of all the features since it’s so difficult to program. He loves the darn app so much but I just wish It was programmer friendly.
