Description

Schoolwork is an iPad app that helps teachers both save time and maximize each student’s potential. With Schoolwork, it’s easy to share class materials, get students to a specific activity in an app, collaborate with students, and view student progress. Teachers can easily create and send out a class announcement, a study reminder, or an assignment. They then get progress information on how their students are doing on their assignments, making it easier for them to individualize instruction based on student needs. Students get one central place to see assignments, submit work, and view their own progress. Share anything with Schoolwork • Easily create and share a homework assignment, study reminder, or class announcement with students • Add PDFs, documents, web links, photos, videos, or even links to specific activities within an app Assign specific activities within an app • With apps optimized for Schoolwork, you can review an app’s list of assignable activities, then easily assign one or more to a class or student • With a single tap, students are brought directly to the assigned activity within the app • For activities you assign in Schoolwork, you’ll be able to view student progress, including quiz scores, points earned, and time spent Keep students focused and organized • Students have one place to go to see their announcements and assignments • Students can see what they have due this week across all their classes • In Pages, Keynote, and Numbers, and other supported apps, students can submit homework right from within the app Collaborate and give real-time feedback • Easily collaborate with individual students or with the entire class in just a few taps • Add comments to students’ work while they’re working on an assignment • Use Apple Pencil or your finger to mark up documents, PDFs, photos, and more Personalize instruction • See a holistic view of a student’s progress, including submitted work and progress in apps, all in one place • Use student progress to find students who might need an extra challenge, or extra support Get started easily • Your existing classes in Apple School Manager automatically show up in Schoolwork • Easily create new classes yourself right from within Schoolwork Privacy In order for teachers to view student progress on activities they assign in Schoolwork, schools are required to enable the Student Progress feature in Apple School Manager. Student progress is only reported for teacher-assigned activities that students complete while using a school-provided Managed Apple ID. All student progress data is encrypted in transit and at rest. If a school does not opt in, teachers and students can still use Schoolwork without this feature. In order to provide and improve Schoolwork, Apple collects non-personally identifiable data about how users interact with the app.

  • Big Apple Corporation Abandoning the Small Independent School

Why are managed Apple ID accounts, which require expensive third-party solutions required to use this tool? Apple doesn’t offer a school solution to manage IDs. Why can’t this giant, most successful corporation on the planet ever, make a tool that supports the little independent school? It is no surprise that Google is running circles round Apple when it comes to education.
  • Horrible app

Lots of bugs in this app. On the teacher side, there is a lot of icloud drive issues. A Lot of times I can’t open an assignment without having to turn the iCloud on and off or turn my iPad on and off. Sometimes I am unable to copy an assignment from class to class because of the iCloud errors. Sometimes when I write on a students paper, it will erase my markings. It takes forever to get the app to work correctly. There are so many bugs and frustration around this app. The bugs seem to be getting worse instead of better. The app worked the best on iOS 14.4.2 and app version 2.2.2 (1097). Wish I could downgrade my iPad back to this version. On the student end, the app will erase their work while they are writing on the assignment. This is extremely bad if they zoom in and out of the assignment. The students will often hit the mark done button just to have the app erase all of their work. Students have to constantly screenshot their work to ensure that it won’t erase. Students struggle with being able to hit the mark done button. It will just spin and spin and won’t mark done. All of these problems make this app basically useless unless you enjoy being frustrated or enjoy making your students frustrated. Apple please fix this app. Major issues with it that have gone far too long without being addressed. I would not recommend this app to anyone at this time.
  • Good Start But Lacking Some Features

I like the way that Schoolwork allows me to easily create copies of activities for all students and monitor them in real time. However, the organization of Schoolwork is a far cry from what iTunes U used to be. There also needs to be some added functionality surrounding assessments such as being able to hide assignment and documents from students for test security after it has been given but before it is handed back. Also some sort of ability to lock students into an attached Numbers or Pages document from within the app and screenshot detection.
  • Bring back iTunes U

This app nor the Podcast app are adequate replacements for homeschooling educators. I shouldn’t have to register as a business to gain access to this app. I was expecting that there would be an alternative way for regular users to sign-in once iTunes U was completely closed. We could easily use our Apple information to create accounts, especially since parents would have parental controls over their minor’s account.
  • Not iTunes U replacement

This app is meant to connect teachers with students. You have to have a school account to access teachers content. Not for the causal or life long learner. Loved learning with iTunes U. Unfortunate.
  • iTunes U Seemed Great - Can’t use schoolwork at all?

Replacing iTunes U with schoolwork is… not great for those of us that wanted to access free lectures online. Since I can’t do anything without signing in with an institution I guess I can’t give it more than one star…
  • Useless for private educators

I am a flight instructor who used iTunes U to make lists of certain apps and push content I created to my student pilots. 👨‍✈️ 👩‍✈️ Now iTunes U is being shut down, and I cannot export my existing content to this app because I am not an “institution” with a managed Apple ID. What a terrible limitation! I guess I’m going to have to start from scratch now. Thanks a lot, Apple! 😠😡🤬
  • Potential ...Get Going on Updates!

I am an elementary teacher. We just started using Schoolwork this year Apple...THIS is your year for this app! You need to get rolling on some updates though. * I want the ability to create an assignment and delay release. This throwing it in drafts is kind of wonky. I have to go back in and release it that day. That means I have to get to work 10 min early every single day to go dig for the right assignment.Let me add a release date while I’m creating the post. * I need the ability to color code individuals on my class list. Currently, we are in a hybrid schedule that is divided by last name but my class lists are loaded by first name....ugh. I teach classes to the whole school. If I had a little red dot etc I could place next to a name....it would be easy to recognize cohorts. Now I’m searching through a mess. This would also be nice to divide reading groups, math groups or kids that require modified instruction as well. Maybe add the ability to put a combination of three or four symbols/shapes/colors next to the kiddos name? *K-2 need more visuals. I realize we can attach pictures etc....It would be better if we could attach a visual the kids could see on the post before & when they open it. Maybe a mini banner of sorts? Things I really like....I like that kids can see exactly what they have left to do in large square posts vs...simple text. The ability to color code and add symbols to classes helps me to recognize who is in which grade and which rotation they’re in. You can add a variety of file types in an assignment. Please keep working on this! Thanks!
