Description

*** Use Video File List to find out more about your movie files, detect poor quality content, and easily clean up your movie archive. *** Main Features * Detect poorly encoded content in your movie library * Sort and filter all your movie files based on many properties like runtime, resolution, video format, fps, tags, etc. * Can identify and classify up to 500 movie files per minute on a fast Mac * Supports most common movie formats on Macs * Export and print the list * HEVC encoder for converting mp4/mov/mpeg files: optimise your files using HEVC hardware encoding Just drag and drop a bunch of files and/or folders on the application icon or directly in the main window. Video File List will then search for valid movie files and display them in the list. Pick one or several filters from the left sidebar to limit the list to specific files/formats or sort the list by any of the columns e.g. to find duplicate candidates. Files from the list can then either be * deleted * revealed in the Finder * played/opened in an external video player * encode to HEVC (only works for mp4/mpeg/mov files) * moved to a different folder

This app promises and delivers. We work with many video files and use the app a coumple of times per week. I don't know what I would do without it. The support from the dev is great. I suggested a useful for our workflow feature that might be useful to others too. It was implemented within the month. Later on I discovered a little bug which was promptly fixed. Keep up the great work !

I bought this app so I could easily sort my files by frame rate. I sort by frame rate after adding the directory and then I can click "Show in Finder" and it will select all those videos and I can move them to the right directory. Does the job!

This is a useful utility and I got good feedback on a couple of questions I had--24 hour turnaround. Will get better as they add more functionality to the app as it relates to what you can do with the files after you get the list.
  • Fills a missing gap in macOS

While having to sort though a lot of video media, I learned that macOS Spotlight doesn’t index the video resolution as searchable criteria in the Finder (even though the “Info” window in macOS will display this metadata..). This app fills that void nicely by searching a folder (of volume) and returning the metadata I needed. A few things missing from the app: 1. The ability to save a search from within the app and re-load later. 2. The ability to export the search as a Finder “smart search” 3. The ability to export the search results to Excel or comma delimited format (not just .txt)
  • Great app, greater developers

I've been using this app at work to help me pull technical metadata for our archives inventory list, and this app is perfect for the task. Or will be, soon -- the limited ProRes support added in this last update still doesn't recognize the many varieties of ProRes files we have in our inventory. But what's really impressed me is the responsiveness of the developers to the multiple inquiries I've sent them about different things. They've been extremely friendly and helpful.

This utility has one single purpose lets you find videos based on metadata. It helped me find videos hidden in folders I didn't even know about :-) I love how fast and intuitive the UI is.
