  • My review is relative to the app’s price tag

    And because the price tag is $130+/yr, this app is TRASH. For <$5/mo, you can most likely deal with all of its issues. But for $130+, I had to deal with their ‘enhanced’ AI voices sounding out basic pronouns like ‘she’. I’m not kidding, multiple times while reading a basic kindle book my AI voice would not say ‘she’ but instead literally make a ‘shh’ sound followed by a ‘heh’ sound followed by plainly saying the letter ‘e’. The same would happen with basic words like ‘because’ or ‘beating’. As Speechify’s Gweyneth Paltrow voice reads the word ‘beating’ in my kindle book as “bb’ing”, I can’t help but be taken out of the story I am reading and think to myself “for $140?!”. For those of you who may say, “okay, maybe it just doesn’t work well with Kindle yet”, unfortunately I have tried with PDFs as well and it’s the same issue. No matter the voice from ‘enhanced’ Snoop Dogg and “Mr. President” to a non-enhanced AI voice, it is all over the place and frustrating to deal with for such a hefty pricetag.

    This thing reads the first letter of about half the sentences by it self… almost impossible to comprehend what is being read. They make you cancel if you don’t want to spend 140 three days after you download or you get autobilled. Adobes free reader is 100% more accurate, this software is just a bunch of weak celebrity voices and horrible text to speech.

    This app is excellent for listening to a document when you don’t have to time to read it or when you’re driving in your car. It will read anything and not with an annoying robotic voice like some apps. I love it and use it almost every day!

    I have a screenshot showing that my subscription would be canceled on the 18th and I will not be charged. However, I was charged $139.99. I don’t even know how that’s legal and of course I can’t talk with a representative because everything is AI, it only gives the option to cancel the subscription through the App Store. However, I need a refund.

    I was very exited to chose a famous actress as the voice to read my papers books etc. I chose her because her clear speech and correct intonation. Low and behold when the time came to read, surprise, a robotic voice came over who is clearly not Gwyneth and not been human has no correct intonation, pauses and other grammatical correctness. I imagine if I had shelled some cash for the app, which is pretty stiff as compared to another app that I have that I can choose from hundreds of voice and for which I paid one time less than $40, I perhaps would have gotten Gwyneth. Shame, shame, shame. Is no one ever decent and upfront anymore? Do they think that they are selling the app exclusively to gullible kids? Delete, delete, delete and never recommend.

    I am having problems with my app and no one is helping to resolve them. I have yet to receive a response from anyone.!! In the past, Customer Service was good. It would take maybe five hours for the issues to be resolved. Now I’ve noticed the past two months. The issues and Customer Service have taken longer periods of time with no follow up. I have reached out on Facebook, Instagram, the help center on the app, and now on Info Speechify. ( which I just received an email reporting “ You might have spelled or formatted the group name incorrectly. * The owner of the group may have removed this group. * You may need to join the group before receiving permission to post. * This group may not be open to posting.” ) Please note. I have used this info@speechify email before and used the auto generated email from previous correspondence!! For the past 24 hours, I have been trying to troubleshoot the issue. I have updated the app however it’s still not working properly! I am unable to receive the premium and AI Voices that I have paid for. I always gave Speechify great review. I have even referred a person to the app. When it works properly, it’s an excellent program. However, how can you have an excellent program when you do not have proper customer service to rectify issues!! I am ready to continue to make comments and complaints on the poor customer service that I am receiving. I was informed it will take 12 hours for a response. It has been over 24 hours and no one has even acknowledge my cry for help on all of the platforms that I’ve reached out too. WHAT IS GOING ON!?? I believe that I have been more than patient with this issue!

    This app is great for short readings or long ones. Don’t know what’s been happening but it’s always off on the amount of time it will take to read something and after I’m done listening to something it removes all the cropping I did so I’ll have to do it again the next time I listen to it.

    For so much money you should have a live chat customer support and more support hours than 2pm to 8pm. Pathetic. The app is a tracking machine. They ask for all your personal info so they can sell it. Save your money and save your info… DELETE ASAP
