  • Horrible App

I don’t know why this keeps happening to us, but it does it both on my husbands phone and mine. When we open the Hatch app to lower the volume in the mornings, the app automatically shoots the volume back up. This happens several times before the sound actually stays at the level we want it to. What is supposed to be a gentle wake up for our toddler turns into him being jolted awake from several sudden noise level changes. My app is fully updated and I’ve even reset the hatch machine as well as logging out of and back into the app. My only complain about the machine itself is that it does not have brown noise, but the app issues are enough to make us replace the product.

This thing never connects to WiFi, their library of sounds is extremely slim, no custom sounds or songs. Once in a while it works though.
  • This app is so unreliable it’s almost not even usable

Update: I was optimistic when I saw a major update available on the app. It’s even more glitchy now. Original: Why not just send it with a remote? Of all the “connected device” apps I have, this one is the worst. So it can’t be blamed on my WiFi connection. It never just connects. It takes multiple closing the app, reopening, logging out, logging back in. And while all of that is going on we’re just stuck listening to whatever volume it’s on and the light at full brightness. That doesn’t sound that bad, but when you’ve just got the baby down and all you want to do is lower the light and sound but you have to fight with this app for 10 minutes until you just give up and do it manually… I mean, the light is cool. The app is awful.
  • Too many ads

I understand that the product team needs everyone who has a hatch to buy a hatch plus subscription. This should never come at a cost to customers who have paid money for the product itself and want to use the basic included features. I’m so frustrated by how many times I’ve opened up the app (which isn’t exactly snappy) while my baby is crying and I’m scrambling to turn the night light on, only to get a pop up prompting me to record a tuck in or whatever other new paid feature I don’t care about has just been released. This happens multiple times for each new feature and it’s unacceptable. I open the app because I want to control my hatch device. Stop getting in my way.

Doesn’t work. Support is unhelpful, wants you to spend a bunch of time answering their questions and turning your hatch on and off, says you never told them the thing you initially reached out about, blames the user for their own bugs. Expects you to do unpaid QC work for them full time apparently. When I asked for a refund for the MONTHS of inconvenience, they closed the ticket instead of responding! Unreal. Don’t waste your time or money with Hatch! Constant app updates keep changing the UI, removing features, deleting your presets. Randomly shuts off overnight and during naps. App crashes. App won’t connect. Volume changes on its own. This was an expensive device and the subscription model makes it even worse. If you’re a new parent who hates sleep, you’ll love this. Otherwise- learn from my pain, run away!!
  • New App is difficult to use

We love the hatch concept, but the new app/version is difficult to use. The company is constantly trying to upsell and goes overboard with all the menu prompts you need to click through before actually getting to what you want. This should not be the case for something with such a high price tag already. It’s also not user friendly and difficult to find the light, sound, etc. I’d rather have the original version.
  • App Update Issues

Like most of the recent reviews, the new app update caused my app to no longer connect to my hatch. The clock no longer works. Fortunately for my baby, we just use one setting, but I can no longer turn it on from my phone. It was also our clock for the bedroom. Complete waste when it just has dashes.

I pay for hatch + and for whatever reason the “explore” never plays?? I have logged out and back in, deleted and reinstalled the app, unplugged and replaced the unit… this app is disappointing. When it works, it has decent selection though.
  • Connection issues

I love my hatch, but the updates have bogged down the connection. Tonight my app won’t work at all, it’s not connecting to the alarm and not allowing me to log in.
