Description

Easily and securely control your smart home using your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, HomePod, Apple TV, and Mac. Features Home tab makes it easier to navigate, organize, view and control all your smart home accessories. Categories for climate, lights, security, speakers and TVs, and water allow for quick access to all the accessories for that specific category. A multi-camera view displays up to four cameras in the Home tab and you can scroll to see any additional cameras. Grid Forecast uses live data from your local electric grid to show when it’s running on cleaner sources so you can plan when to charge devices or run appliances. (Contiguous US Only) Activity History lets you see a recent history for garage door, door lock, security systems, and contact sensor events* Siri makes it easy to use your voice to control accessories. Say a phrase like “Lock the front door,” “Play jazz in the living room,” or create a scene and say “Good night” to turn off all your lights. Widgets on iPhone and iPad give you the ability to see the status of your home and access relevant accessories. Control Center gives you quick access to control your favorite accessories and scenes. Home app on Apple Watch displays accessories you'll most likely need at top for immediate access and then all accessories in favorites, cameras, and rooms. HomePod or other AirPlay-enabled speakers can be added in the Home app to control your smart home and play music in any room in your house. HomePod and Apple TV act as a home hub to manage your home while you’re away. Automatically run scenes and control accessories based on your location, the time of day, a sensor detection, or the action of an accessory. HomeKit Secure Video** lets you view live video and recordings as well as get rich notifications when people, pets, vehicles, or package deliveries are detected from your security cameras or video doorbell. View a 10-day recording history in the Home app, and you can share or save recordings. Adaptive lighting** lets you set compatible lightbulbs to automatically adjust their color temperature throughout the day to help maximize comfort and productivity. Wake up in the morning to warm colors, stay alert midday with cooler tones, and wind down at night by removing blue light. Accessories compatible with the Matter smart home connectivity standard are supported seamlessly in the Home app alongside your HomeKit-enabled accessories, so you can control them easily and securely using the Home app and Siri on your Apple devices. *Available for homes using the new Home architecture. **Requires HomePod or Apple TV as a home hub and an iCloud+ plan.

My iPad got stuck and I had to go to Apple Store to fix it because of the apps critical alert feature.

Got a Schlage smart lock in hopes I could use my iPhone as a key. Alexa works. Google assistant works. Schlage app works. Apple Home? No response. Have un-installed and factory reset the lock twice and no use. Remember when apple stuff used to be cool?
  • Google owns home automation

I live in the Apple universe except when it comes to home automation. Compare Google Home or Nest w Apples pathetic app Home. Smoke detectors, WiFi, doorbell, cameras, speakers, thermostats. Easy in google. Apple Home is stuck in a dumb loop saying it can’t adjust settings. What settings?? I just opened the dumb app, shut it, deleted it, reopened and so buggy. Biggest miss from Apple so far, they are years behind and you could see it coming when they gave up on routers.

bare bones implementation app for home automation. the UI could use some work. on occasion, Matter enabled accessories become unreachable even if the manufacturer's app is able to access and control accesssory. Homepods also appear to be a root cause of unreachable accessories, requiring frequent reboots for accessories to again become reachable. HomeKit needs to address the underlying Matter bugs.

  • Worked Well Until 17.4 Update

While monitoring 2 locations remotely, after the update, one locations HomePod mini bricked, cannot see anything. Separate AcuRite weather station still works indicating power, internet, all its Temp sensors working. Disabled cousin will need to drive 30 mikes round trip to trouble shoot via FaceTime… if that works. Other location after update, 90% of time, 4 cameras not responsive. Finally, get recordings of a rat in the garage, but not of my opening the garage door for a relative to retrieve an item. In settings, 4 water sensors say on; in summary, they are all “off. I feel ‘squatter vulnerable’ at both locations with my Apple system investment.

  • 2 homes, more than 30 devices: All works well!

We have 2 homes (Europe and USA) and well above 30 homekit-devices connects. Over the years the SmartHome ecosystem matured technically and I can confidently give Apple 4+ stars here. Occasional kinks and missing features which 3rd-party Apps do offer, but I can equally confidently say: other device and App-vendors also have their issues. Very notable and valuable imo about HomeKit is the level of security and privacy protection. Also a Plus: over the many years now I never had to retire a HomeKit-device because it was outdated and ‘no longer supported’ - everything is still fully functional.
