If you are trying to message friends, half the time it will send but you won’t see it in chat until you refresh the app, making it look like a one-sided conversation. Every second or third time opening the app, it’s frozen and unresponsive, needing an app refresh. Sometime the match history UI is just not there, and doesn’t appear until you, you guessed it, refresh the app. When you are lucky enough to see the match history UI, it won’t be up to date, however an app refresh does NOT fix this. The only solution I’ve found to forcing match history to update is signing out of your account, refreshing app, signing back in, then the match history won’t be there so you have to refresh the app one or two more times (depending on if it freezes after first reset)

I think maybe Riot Games should make two separate apps. One, would focus on all the esports stuff. Whether it’s lol esports news, upcoming games, past games, vods of esports events, livestreams of esport events, etc. It would be so nice to FINALLY have a place where you can just see post-game threads like what champions have been played, who was playing, the kda and builds of the pro players OTHER THAN WHEN IT’S BEING LIVE STREAMED. It’s nice they have this functionality when they livestream the game, but there are so many problems with esports vods like seeing the history and vods, still… It is so difficult to get pro player match history without having to watch the whole vod or resort to trying to find some website that might track it online. Second, would be what the app is kind of designed to do now: connecting with your friends, seeing your own match history, reviewing your own games, seeing news about the Riot Games that you play. This would also enable it to now open up and have more for other Riot Games games whether it’s the match history for Wild Rift stuff, LoR match history, TFT history, etc. I think it’s clear that separating the app and making one all about Esports and the other about ALL of Riot Games would be the best direction without overcrowding it all onto one app. As of June 2023: More after their recent update: The only visual thing I understand they updated what that post matches in esports look more appealing and tend to have the first vod ready to play. I still stand by separating the two things this one app is trying to do, but these small changes are in the right direction. My strongest critique is still the news section for Riot Games. It gets so clustered very fast and I think it would be beneficial (especially to people lacking social media) if there was an additional forum section or something for just Rioters and LPP members. Nov 2023 EDIT: It seems like they are doing more for both esports and match history with all of Riot Games which definitely deserves an extra star. It’s getting better. However, I still believe separate apps between the two would be a much better benefit. Especially with Project L, the fighting game, and the Riot MMO, there will be a lot more games to cover with a lot more histories and profiles. With the introduction of the Riot ID being the main namesake across all Riot Games, I am still convinced separating the two and allowing LoLEsports to have an app that can focus just on esports, vods, streamers, esports betting, esports fantasy, etc while the Riot Games mobile app can focus on the Riot Games games and merch shop is the best solution here. Jan 2024 edit: I am rating it lower because it just still seems half baked and does not know what to offer to people. Too many loading bugs now. Features for both esports and the Riot Games’ games seem to be either in for a short time then get removed or just not actually function. The most important thing for the esports side I really want to be able to see is a “box score” and match history of past games at least of the split. I want to be able to see who played, what champs they played, their kda, objectives taken, etc. I feel like if they were serious about the esports portion you would have that part in your match history AT LEAST. As well as have consistent available replays for all games (not just replays for big events) and a season standings. Why do I have to keep looking on Google for where my favorite team stands in their region? It’s super frustrating and I really wish they would separate the apps or just delete the esports part of it, fully making third party members take responsibility of the data, and make this a Riot Games’ games only app or vice versa. I’m really close to just uninstalling it, no point keeping it for news when I just have to wait in a Rioter’s discord or a YouTube video to cover reddit or twitter stuff or for a Rioter’s discord video to post a YouTube link covering a reddit thread about a tweet for a Riot Games update. Please have the Riot Games’ games portion use this app to streamline updates and patch notes for ALL Riot Games’ games and develop another app and/or remove esports to at least make the app’s name make sense. Make this experience less frustrating with a more direct app with the proper features needed to utilize it. March 24, 2024: it still is just two apps shoved down one. Full of lots of bugs and it’s a 50/50 if the app will open anymore. I don’t use the app anymore. Just may occasionally open it to write another updated review about how the app should probably still be split between active Riot Games’ games and esports and the bugs I still experience.

The social tab doesn't update/refresh very well. A refresh button might be a good idea so we can force it to update and show the people that are actually online or in game.

App is good but I just wish you could check your shop in Val from the app

i love using this app to stalk friends when i don’t want to boot up my computer, BUT ITS SO LAGGY AND ITS WRONG HALF THE TIME please fix

app never reloads correctly and doesnt display info reliably or consistently. needs complete overhaul, trash UI
