Description

The Google Wifi app lets you set up and control your Google Wifi points or OnHub right from your mobile device. It puts you in control of your network -- easily share your Wi-Fi password, see what devices are online, prioritize them for better performance, or pause the Wi-Fi on kids’ devices. The app also provides insights to help you get the most out of your Wi-Fi. Here’s what you can do with the Google Wifi app: • Set up your Google Wifi system or OnHub in just a few minutes • Prioritize a device for faster speeds when it matters most • Pause the Wi-Fi on kids’ devices • See what’s connected to your network and how much bandwidth you’re using • Create a separate network for your guests • Run a network check to test your connection speed • Make changes to your settings, such as your Wi-Fi network name and password • Add a network manager who can help you monitor your Wi-Fi

The controls via the iOS app are so glitchy it’s almost as if Google does this on purpose to drive you away from the Apple ecosystem. Never purchasing a google product again.

This app does not enable any adequate control features over the router.
  • Can’t separate 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz

I have newer devices that won’t allow me to set them up unless I am using 2.4Ghz on the device I am connecting to them for setup with. The inability to choose forces me to use my cable modems WIFI to set it up. Doesn’t make me happy.
  • Please add a way to join 2.4ghz network for smart home devices

I can’t connect any of the smart home devices that I own because google Wifi automatically picks your network. My phone is always on 5ghz so when I try to connect my 2.4ghz only smart home devices, they fail to connect. Please fix!
  • Terrible software and no support

Like many other google products, I fear this is an afterthought by google. They do not listen to the complaints from users at all. There is almost no ability for basic configurations. If you need any sort of WiFi calling from your carrier stay away from google WiFi. It will only work on one device at a time and only of that device is connected to the 5ghz band which the end user has no control of. No AP isolation for devices. There are years worth of the same complaints on google forums and google does nothing about it. I have zero faith that they will fix any issues or add the basic functionality that people have been asking for. This is a bad product and I regret purchasing it.

All of sudden I couldn’t setup my onhub again after a factory reset and the router became useless...
  • Outstanding WiFi Performance, No Issues

It’s a simple plug, setup, and play process. Also, these Wifi units are to do one job and one job only - provide WiFi coverage throughout an area. Nothing more, nothing less. I do not know why there are so many negative reviews on here; don’t bother listening to them! The app? It’s fine. Simple options, for a simple product. No need to alter, change and customize EVERYTHING for a process such as WiFi. I do NOT have crazy high speed connections or amazing WiFi service provider. I’m on a basic plan with AT&T, in a basic 2300 sq ft 2 story home, and google WiFi has given me no issues whatsoever. I give this a perfect 5/5

Probably was the easiest process setting up a router. While it might not allow every intricate setting on the router like going through page after page on a standard router with a web server, this allows 99% of users to setup a mesh network in just minutes. Good lucking doing that ad hoc. The remote monitoring capabilities are a nice added bonus.
  • More customization needed!

Please let us assign any device to a specific band! Also, offer browser access. Thanks!
