I enjoy reading the paper and like the easy way of doing it online before I get up for my day.

I can look at Live News a few times and then it wants me to login to my account. I already have a subscription to online. That is annoying. Also since I stopped home delivery, I miss out on all the extra inserts. I would have kept home delivery, but my carrier put my paper on the driveway and sometimes under my car.

As a former resident it is a nice way to keep up with what goes on in my old hometown .....
  • What happened?!?!

I’m at a point where I wish that I could just subscribe to the obituaries. Where did the staff learn to spell? Is proofreading a lost art? I’m often perplexed by the things that are determined to be newsworthy, like the lady on Dorcliff Heights with subpar Halloween decorations offering free photo opportunities. Then when something really important happens, like Marathon Petroleum slashing 2000 jobs, it takes the Independent two days to report on it. I’ve returned to my hometown after twenty three years, and in that time the Independent has truly become birdcage material.
