    As a seller and as a Buyer I can honestly say this is a losing situation. Haven’t had one sale since you did this. Not one. I usually sell something just about every day.

    I’ve been with Mercari since the beta testing when there were NO FEES period, the first year. I’ve had great success on Mercari and sold nearly 15k on the platform. These new changes are a lose lose lose, for sellers, buyers and Mercari. Surely they see the profits absolutely tanking, similar to the stocks? Sellers were used to paying the fees and prices accordingly, the buyer fees are absolutely insane and I have abandoned my cart every single time I almost bought something; even though i sell more than I buy. Sales have tanked since the changes and I’ve been reluctant but I have no choice but to exit this circus. It’s unfortunate that someone chose to tank the company literally over night. Also Mercari is encouraging fraud and committing fraud themselves.

    First time using Mercari I placed an ordered through HappyUnbirthdayShop and after taking the funds from my bank account, and still receiving no email that my order has shipped, I reached out to Mercari and the seller. Mercari told me they reminded the seller multiple times to ship my order. Finally after 5 days no response and 3 days before I need my order, the seller messages and says, she “does not have the item anymore” and canceled my order 2 days before I needed the item. It was NEVER mentioned to me by the seller that they no longer had that item until 4 DAYS after I purchased it. I could have had the opportunity to purchase the item ELSEWHERE so I would have it in time for my event. I was denied the basic customer service and dismissed by Mercari. Horrible and deceptive business. 10000% do not recommend.

    Been here for many years until recently they have added bunch of extra charges. Charging you tax TWICE. If you see an item for $15, it will end up costing you $24. Done with this app. Use offerup instead where you get to keep 100% of your money by selling/buying in person. Period, end of story.

    Better apps out there that doesn’t have such high fees to buy and sell ( eg facebook marketplace, Poshmark) and customer service is apathetic and do not want to solve your problems, just to quickly close the issue.

  • Worst e-commerce experience of my life

    My first purchase on this platform was a nightmare. The seller was a problem on his own but everything was compounded by the sales system and the poor customer service provided by Mercari. The system is set up with old the seller’s money until the buyer receives and confirms the quality. Great in theory. Problem is UPS screwed up on the delivery which then triggered a downward spiral wity the seller claiming I was stealing from him to the Mercari system stabling due to the issues with UPS’ notification system. The Mercari “help” page was unable to address my issue. The Mercari phone line does not provide a human to talk to in my area. I had to find an email address on a third party but was provided a series of contrasting and ineffective solutions ending with them just giving up and rating the seller themselves on my behalf. This is problematic because the seller violated the conduct rules but ended up with a positive review while leaving him free to rate me however he wants. I’m giving them 2 stars only because I did receive the product as advertised but I will never use this platform again.
