The rooms should be reorganizable! They should not be alphabetized because if they are the most used room might end up on bottom and every time I use it I have to scroll all the way down. It might also be nice it the rooms were squares and could be side by side rather than on top and bottom of each other
  • Alexa is smarter and just way better

Very quickly... After a few short minutes with Google Home..Alexa wins! 1. You can’t use it out the box. You must download the app to your phone and go through a few prompts. Google home will not perform any functions whatsoever without the setup. Alexa you could use out the box for some things without setting it up on your phone. 2. Wont play a specific song. With Alexa, if you have an Amazon Prime account then Amazon music would play many songs by request. Google Home requires you to have a premium paid service somewhere (Pandora, Spotify, YouTube premium). 3. Can’t use on AirPlay. The google home speaker is not compatible with apple AirPlay so if it isn’t bad enough that you must have a premium music streaming service to command Google to play something specific if you wanted to manually pull up a song or video on YouTube you can’t broadcast it on the speaker with AirPlay.

I'm speechified! Wow! I especially like the far field feature. Definitely worth at least a try Update: FREAKING LOVE THIS DEVICE. Hands down better than echo. UPDATE (April 19, 2019) I mean … it’s not entirely user friendly and I lost the part where you can explore actions. Other than that, it’s by far the best in the market that’s why I gave it 5 stars.

I have been a Google fan boy for as long as I can remember. I used it over Yahoo back when it was a thing, I got into the Gmail BETA through invitation, and so on. Google was definitely my choice with smart home tech, but now I finally have a grievance. The app continues to forget my routines. The devices apparently don’t recognize bulbs or routines, nor do they refer me by name anymore. Good morning is supposed to give me the time, weather, commuting information, and stuff on my calendar... but it just says hi here’s the time. Options disappear sometimes, requiring a refresh or app reload. I’m sorry, but continuously factory resetting my devices, and re-configuring things in the app over and over is not an excusable fix... that doesn’t fly in my work as a programmer, it shouldn’t fly here. You can have more stars when you implement a real solution, not the new version of “have you tried turning it off and on again”

I came across a couple hiccups while trying to set up my Google Home mini and my older 1st gen Chromecast. 1) I was trying to set up a friend’s old Google home mini so I did a factory reset. For some reason, it refused to connect to my WiFi. The issue was solved by having my friend sign into her Google account on MY phone and connecting the Google home to her account. I don’t know whether this is an issue with the app or Google home. 2) Chromecast would not show up in the app. All troubleshooting articles for Chromecast have no help for 1st gen Chromecast. I finally came across a How to Geek article that told me how to set up a 1st gen Chromecast which involved going into my phone’s settings. This was never once suggested in the troubleshooting section or during setup. So that’s what’s wrong with the app currently. Yes you can set up your devices but if you come across a problem, be prepared to either figure it out yourself or seek outside information. The troubleshooting page from Google itself was of no help at all. It’s sad when a random article online is more informative than Google’s own troubleshooting page.

The fact that amazon can connect to GSuite and Google can’t, without any kind of explanation or direction means you shouldn’t build your smart home on google. Bye Felicia.

Bought the Chromecast to view my photos and videos on my TV only to find out that you have to have a certain Google TV. Taken a long time to set up. No number to call for help.
