  • Buyer beware: Great at first then takes a dive... so upsetting.

Let me start by saying that I loved this program at first. When I first started it was engaging and informative and, most importantly, the program was working and I was seeing the changes I wanted to see. Then, at week 7, everything changed. The articles suddenly became dry, hard to relate to, and generic, my Apple Watch suddenly stopped syncing to the app, there were no more quizzes and participation was no longer required in the articles (it was replaced with check boxes that say “I’ve read this”, “I did this”, or “I didn’t do this”). Things that the program harped on during the first few weeks like weighing in daily were no longer options, tasks were out of order, and the articles were giving either repetitive or conflicting information. What’s even more upsetting has been my experience with their support. After two days of these issues I contacted their support team to let them know there was clearly a problem. A week later I received a reply asking for screenshots. I sent the requested screenshots along with explanations of what I was experiencing. Another week and a half later I received a reply saying “Unfortunately, that feature is only available to users in the first three weeks of their experience”. I responded stating that I had pointed out several issues and none had been addressed. It’s now been almost a week and I’ve yet to hear back. After reading some of these reviews, it appears that they are well aware that the content takes a dive. This is incredibly disconcerting as I purchased this program based on the experience during the trail period. Knowingly providing inferior content after they’ve received payment is indicative of bait-and-switch tactics... It seems that Noom has made a decision to sell 16 week program when they only had 7 weeks of content prepared. I haven’t even bothered with the articles this last week and a half as the content is mostly things they’ve already stated and is so boring to read it’s difficult to get through. I cannot overstate how upsetting this is as the beginning of the program was really great! I would love to open my app and see at least SOME improvements on these issues, but if complaints to support and the other reviews on here haven’t caused any action yet, I’m not sure this will either.
  • Skeptic At First

The first few days, I was a little skeptical of the app as my life got too busy with work and didn’t have time to follow along. Once I got to it and followed all it’s “easy” steps it’s all I need! I’ve lost 5 lbs my first 3 days. Unbelievable.
  • Just what I needed to stay motivated

I am analytical. I need to know the “why” behind stuff. This app provides the answers I need and the mind tricks to succeed. I highly recommend it.

I’ve actually paid for this app and it is nothing more that a basic calorie tracker. This personalized plan and coach they mention, I have yet to see this. Don’t waste your money. This is a calorie tracker with health articles sprinkled in to make you think it’s customized.
  • Yes it does work!!

Lost 3 pounds the first week. Stick to the plan, use the app daily to log your weight, meals, and calories burned through exercise, and you will see results.
  • BEWARE — They trick you so you can’t cancel

I upgraded to a paid subscription long ago. What I didn’t realize is that I had to keep some email they sent when I subscribed in order to cancel because I would need some number in it in order to make a chat bubble appear to ask to cancel the stupid thing. That’s all well and fine, except I signed up almost two years ago and I don’t have the email anymore! IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS DIFFICULT TO CANCEL! I’ve emailed customer support twice now with no response. I’m going to have to change my entire account number to get this to stop taking money from me, I guess. I would also like to make it known that this is my first ever bad review I’ve ever written for an app. Their customer service is almost non-existent, let alone just calling it bad. You’ve been warned.
  • It’s been 3 days and nothing..

    It’s been 3 days and I haven’t heard a thing from anyone. I’m frustrated.

Used for a trial and automatically charged me $139.00! Would not give me my money back. DO NOT USE OR DOWNLOAD. Scam.
  • Unimpressed

I had the app for 3 days after seeing it on IG. I read some of the reviews where people said it was great and they loved it so I thought I’d give it a try. I liked that it got me to think a little more in depth about my habits but the Concierge Eva never responded to me. I never got a response from the coach and never got to meet the group. I only got a response after I sent a cancelation message to the Concierge. I got a system generated response in return 6-8 hours later. It definitely does not seem to be worth the hype. I went from excited to cold with this app real quick. If I had felt some level of actual involvement from the very start like it had advertised, it probably would have been different.

So, so many thoughts. Calorie budget - right out the gate I was skeptical when I plugged in my info and the app ‘calculated’ my base calories as 1200/day. I’m 6’0”, 200 lbs, and I work out 2-3 hrs a day. Yes, it does give you back calories for exercising (and perhaps my only positive note is that it doesn’t give you back ALL the calories you burned, unlike most apps) but that would put me around 1650 calories a day, which is still pretty low, and I plateaued like never before. Also, the AMA just published a study that busts the myth of calorie counting as a weight loss tool, so... Goal specialist - is for sure a real person and not a bot, but this isn’t a helpful resource. I stopped engaging with my goal specialist about 3 weeks in, because it’s very self-driven. I’m asked what goal I want to set, and then get a cheery message of encouragement. The groups - the group is about as helpful as I could have expected (some people were really engaged, and I appreciated that.) I think it would be helpful to have self-reported weight loss experience before getting segmented into groups. I’ve lost 140 lbs before, and I’m trying to lose the 20 I’ve gained back. A lot of my group members (all, I think) introduced themselves saying that they were really hoping this is the thing that finally worked - and that made me feel like I was already in a weird position and didn’t know how to engage with the group. The app - yes, this app is mostly an archive of weight loss related content, and I just don’t know what to say about that. The content is fine. It’s pretty amateur a lot of the time. Mostly, I was just super annoyed at some point. I don’t want to read 3-5 articles a day. That doesn’t help me focus on weight loss, it just feels like a weird online class full of excessive cheeriness. Also, I don’t love the UI. Why can’t we log meals for future days? That doesn’t help me plan. Overall - I think successful weight loss is about engaging the right ~15-20% of your mind and time to repeatedly re-center on your motivations, to plan, and to food prep. IMHO, this app doesn’t help build habits. It’s a barrage of information and stimuli with zero planning tools, and an unusual percentage of less-than-healthy (high-red) recipes.
