Description

scapple: to work or shape roughly, without smoothing to a finish. - The Chambers Dictionary ROUGH IT OUT Ever scribbled ideas on a piece of paper and drawn lines between related thoughts? Then you already know what Scapple does. It's a virtual sheet of paper that lets you make notes anywhere and connect them using lines or arrows. MAKE CONNECTIONS Join up your thinking however you want. Scapple doesn't force you to make connections—every note is equal, so it's up to you which notes have connections and which don't. You have complete freedom to experiment with how your ideas fit together. IT’S SCAPPLE SIMPLE Creating notes is as easy as double-clicking anywhere on the page; making connections between ideas is as simple as dragging and dropping one note onto another. And unlike real paper, in Scapple you can move notes around and never run out of space. FEATURES • Simple—and fun!—to use • Write notes anywhere • Connect notes using drag and drop • Move and arrange notes easily • Stack notes in columns of related ideas • Label connections • Create background shapes to group notes • Customise the appearance of notes • MathType support • iCloud syncing • Full screen mode • Export to popular formats or print your ideas • Easily drag notes into Scrivener for further development SUPPORT If you have any questions or feedback, you can contact us by email on [email protected] or via our support forum at http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum.

  • Amazing for people who think graphically; aren't organized; hate 'software as a service'

This is one of the best softwares I've used in a long time for organizing thoughts in a non-linear structure. I used to use MindNode periodically, but they switched to "software as a service" (i.e. subscription) instead of one-time fee. I gave this a shot in part because it allows non-linear connections and because it's fixed fee (again I don't use mind mapping software a lot). OMG this software is everything! It allows you to brain dump on paper and then organize everything after the fact. I'm so happy I found this. Easily worth the fee and then some

Good and useful app. Would use it more if I could use it on the go too. I really hate being limited to the Mac only. It's 2021 and synchronization is still not implemented? Please integrate with iPadOS/iOS and make use of seemless iCloud for synchronization. Thanks.
  • Seems good but is not

The idea of this is cool but it is let down by some major flaws. It does not have a way to lock notes, it does not have a grid to align notes, and has no way to change the font. So with these if you export them to PDF and you have complex notes, then they will not align correctly. Also, on a M1 Mac with 16GB ram, my notes brings the system to a crawl with about 300 simple notes on a single page.
  • Simple and Intuitive

Scapple sticks to the keep-it-simple philiosphy. The screenshots in the app store might make it look fancy or complicated, but it really isn't. Mind maps can be generated simply by double-clicking on the screen and typing stuff. Want to link two things? Select them, and then alt-click to open the dialog to link them. The software doesn't get in the way or distract you from what you're trying to do. If, later on, you decide you want to beautify your mind map, then you can. Scapply really is the perfect balance of power and simplicity.
  • Some many features to discover!

Did you know that you can drag in images from web pages? Add an emojii of, say a computer and crank up the font size? Set shodow on as the default so everything has depth? Join together two shapes with an arrow? Draw a magnetic background around some shapes to create a larger composite shape? For the longest time I've been looking for a quick Visio alternative and I had this all along - dammit!
  • Missing Features in Big Sur

Look, I really like this application. But in Big Sur, Scapple does not provide tab functionality. There is no tab bar or any way to merge windows. If you want more than one board open, you're stuck with multiple windows. Sad state of affairs. L&L: these are the basics of MacOS. Please rectify. Thank you in advance; I will update my review when the problem is fixed.

Having this kind of mind mapping tool has been awesome. I have used Scapple to organize work projects, personal projects and even just organize random thoughts (like having white board just ready to go on your desktop). And what it does, does seem to work. Creating a note and then linking it works smoothly for the most part. I had wanted more from this app, though. I hope they will either improve it or that some competition will show up. I'm not going to pretend to be able to diagnose the problem but I wish there was more, like a lot more. I don't know if that is. Maybe it's playing around with other ways to visuals concepts, or having more automated features (like inputing cells from a workbook and have machine learning options to attempt various ways that you may want that info organized). I guess I just want the team that started in a perfect direction with this software to follow through on creating somethign amazing.
  • Here's why I'm disappointed

Call me silly or stupid or whatever, but what excited me about this app was the possibility of doing hand drawn maps (as depicted in example 1). Doing this on my laptop, or with a pad and then finiishing it up on the desktop, or taking the map with me and being about to annotate by hand, after which those notes (and new elements if necessary could be recogognized and incorporated by the onscreen version.. No Joy. Can't do it. I'm still waiting. beginnning to dispair.
